Jem and the Holograms are singing again?
November 5th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Pajiba has some truly outrageous news, they are saying that Jem and the Holograms might be coming back as either a movie or a TV show. Fresh off of the success of GI Joe and Transformers, Universal and Hasbro are in the beginning stages of figuring out what to do with the awesome cartoon, but it is looking like in some way it will be back! Hopefully it will remain a cartoon because if they make it live action you know they will cast someone cheesy like Miley Cyrus in the role and Jem deserves better than that! I really hope they do it because it will be fun to see how thay modernize Jem!

Steve Guttenberg claims is career is making a comeback
November 4th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: 1 ]

Steve Guttenberg thought he made a career comeback when he did with Dancing with the Stars, but that didn’t work out so well for him. Now he is telling The Sun that one of his biggest movies Three Men and a Baby is getting another sequel and it might not be the only franchise he was in that is getting one.

Guttenberg said: “Disney’s developing Three Men and a Bride. That’s going to be a smash. A smash hit. They’re bringing everybody back for that.
“Nobody knows about it. I’m the first to talk about it.”
The actor is hoping the follow-up will encourage movie bosses to reignite some of his other 1980’s hits.
He added: “It’s definitely time for another Police Academy. And I think they could make another Cocoon.
“They’re surefire hits and I think they’re good for the world. They make the world a better place and that’s what it’s all about.”

I want what Guttenberg is smoking to think all of that could happen. Although I wouldn’t mind another Police Academy because those movies were awesomely bad in a good way!
BTW I wonder what the Three Men and a Baby ghost thinks of the sequel, he so needs a role in the movie!

Is the Footloose remake in trouble?!?
October 25th, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: 2 ]

High School Musical and This Is It’s Kenny Ortega has quit as the director of the Footlloose remake. According to Variety, “Insiders said Ortega wanted to make a picture with elaborately staged musical numbers at a budget of $30 million or so. Par production chief Adam Goodman wanted an edgier drama with less emphasis on the musical numbers and a budget around $25 million or less.” If Paramount is seriously thinking of remaking the movie without musical numbers, I say just kill the project now. Well that and it also stars Chace Crawford and Julianne Hough. It is not like I don’t like them, but they are just not right for the movie that Paramount thinks they want to make because they just bring the element of cheese. Julianne is like the cutest and sweetest thing ever, how is she going to play edgy in her first big role?
This is not the first set back for the movie, Zac Efron like his HSM director also quit the film siting that he wanted to take on different type of roles. Just like they replaced Zac with hiss look-alike Chace, Paramount is actively looking for a new director and hopes to keep the start of production on schedule in March. I wonder how Chace is going to do both Footloose and Gosspi Girl, and I guess that means two-time chamo Julianne Hough will not be returning to Dancing with the Stars anytime soon.
Am I the only hoping that this film doesn’t get made? As we learned with Fame some things are better left the way that are.

Miss Saigon is coming to the big screen!
October 21st, 2009 under Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Miss Saigon is living The American Dream by being adapted for the big screen! According to Variety Tom Cruise’s ex-partner Paula Wagner is hoping to release the hit musical in 2011 with production starting on the film next year. Besides the heart wrenching love story and the amazing music the show was also known for the elaborate sets and it will be cool to see how they will do them for the movie.
I am really hoping that all those years that Paula spent with Tom Cruise hasn’t ruined her vision too much because I am really looking forward to seeing Miss Saigon done right for the big screen.

Freaky Friday skips the weekend to Freaky Monday
October 13th, 2009 under Jodie Foster, Stupid Sequels/Remakes. [ Comments: none ]

Freak Friday is getting a sequel called Freaky Monday based on the book of the same title that was written by the same author of the original book. According to Variety, “Freaky Monday centers on a smart but insecure girl who magically switches bodies with her sympathetic junior high English teacher for a day.” I was kind of hoping the sequel would be the story of the daughter from the original who is now a mom, switching places with her daughter, but this one sounds OK. Hopefully they can get Jodie Foster to play the teacher and maybe have John Astin play the principal or something. I chose to show the original Freaky Friday TV Spot because who doesn’t love John Astin, he is so freaking sexy to me!!!
