BTWF roles: George Takei in The Twilight Zone
October 14th, 2010 under Before They Were Famous, Star Trek. [ Comments: none ]

Before George Takei boldly went where no man has gone before in Star Trek, he crossed over to another dimension in The Twilight Zone. It is weird not to hear the 27 year old actor talk in the voice we know him for today in that 1964 episode.

BTWF roles: Leonard Nimoy in Queen for a Day
May 20th, 2010 under Before They Were Famous, Star Trek. [ Comments: none ]

In honor of Leonard Nimoy’s last role on Fox’s Fringe tonight because he said he is retiring after it, here is his first role in Queen for a Day. OMG how good looking was the 20 year in that 1951 movie. I have always only seen looking like Spock in Star Trek, but now I can see him as so much more! I hope he enjoys his retirement as much as we have enjoyed his acting!

Leonard Nimoy was doing an interview with Toronto Sun and in it the 79 year old actor revealed he is retiring from acting. This is not the first time he said goodbye to acting according to the interview, so what got him out of retirement the last time? “I was away from acting for 12 years, so I guess I was seducable,” Nimoy told the paper “But since J.J. Abrams revived the Star Trek franchise, I felt I owed him something. And I’m glad I did it because he promised me a good story, and it was.”
And even though he came back to work for J.J., he continued to say he is leaving for someone else. “I want to get off the stage. Also, I don’t think it would be fair to Zachary Quinto,” he continued telling The Sun, referring to the actor who portrayed a youthful Spock in last summer’s smash Star Trek relaunch. “He’s a terrific actor, he looks the part, and it’s time to give him some space. And I’m very flattered the character will continue.”
He added that his appearance on the upcoming Fringe will be his swan song to acting. “I’ve been doing this professionally for 60 years,” he says with a laugh. “I love the idea of going out on a positive note. I’ve had a great, great time.”
I wonder if Nimoy will spend his retirement reviving his music career? But seriously he has had an amazing career that most actors can only dream of, and he has deserved his retirement and I hope he enjoys it like we have enjoyed his acting!
BTW as soon as William Shatner heard the new he called J.J. and said he was willing to take over as Spock in Star Trek. Just joking, but you know he called him to try to get a role in Star Trek 2 when he heard the news.

Chris Pine the new Jack Ryan?

Chris Pine is a second generation Hollywood actor, but it wasn’t until he took on the role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek that he finally made a name for himself. How much of a name? Well according to Variety he is in talks to be the fourth actor to play Jack Ryan in The Art of Making Money. The role has been previously played Oscar nominees Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford and Oscar winner Ben Affleck, so it is not a bad company of actors to be part of. I hope he signs on for the role because there is just something so likable about him and I would like to see him in this type of role.
Variety said if he becomes the next Jack Ryan, they are unsure what he would film he film first the Tom Clancy one or Star Trek 2. I am kind of hoping for ST2 because I don’t want to wait to long for that sequel to come out. When did I become such a Trekkie?

Star Trek: The Movie bloopers!!!
October 12th, 2009 under Bloopers, Star Trek. [ Comments: none ]

I always love bloopers and this gag reel from Star Trek did not disappoint. It was so cool to watch how Zachary Quinto contorted his face to look like Spock, something I never realized until he broke character during some of those bloopers. And what is up with J.J. Abrams tapping the mic like that, there has to be some sexual reference to that, no?
Seriously how much fun did it look like to work on that film? J.J. seems to run a cool set whether it is TV or film, no wonder his cast is so loyal to him and appear more than one of his ventures.
