Sophia Loren turned 89 on the 20th, and the year is not off to a good start. The Italian legendary actress fell in her bathroom in Geneva yesterday and broke several bones, including her hip and femur. The latter caused her to undergo emergency surgery.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that there is “cautious optimism about the outcome of the operation and Loren’s recovery.”
After she is released from the hospital, she will have a short convalescence stay, and then she will go home for long rehabilitation.
I am praying that she recovers from her injuries and gets to enjoy her time at the Sophia Loren Restaurants again.
Over the weekend, John J. York announced that he was taking a break from General Hospital because he was diagnosed with two types of cancers, myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma in December, and he needs a blood stem cell transplant.
So, the 64-year-old was reaching out to his fans and asked them to see if they could be a match for him on Be The Match.
This morning, he gave an update on the search to Good Morning America, “I believe they found a match, a perfect match.”
Finding a match is “the biggest deal” because his family members were tested, and they were not a match.
Therefore, this person, out of the goodness of their heart, is saving his life. So he wants to say to them, with tears in his eyes, “Thank you for saving my life. For letting me spend more time with my wife, my daughter, my son-in-law, my grandchildren.”
Next week, they will do some testing. If all goes well, they will do the transplant in November.
I will be praying all goes well and he has many more years with his family.
John J. York announced over the weekend that he is taking a break from General Hospital, and yesterday he explained why.
“So last December of ’22, I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma, two blood and bone marrow disorders. Over the past many months, I’ve had three bone marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments. I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks, and I’m closing in on a blood stem cell transplant,” the actor, 64, said in a video on social media. “I’ve been working with some wonderful people at Be The Match to find a potential donor on their registry. If it’s possible and you would consider being a donor, joining their registry, for not just me but thousands and thousands of other people who are in need of a donor, go to bethematch.org/matchformac.”
If you are between 18-40, you could be a possible donor for him or someone else who needs a blood stem cell transplant. You could save a life, and how amazing would that feel? I donate platelets every two weeks, and it makes me feel like I am doing something wonderful. So please get tested if you can.
Back to the actor, he concluded his message with, “I just want to say thanks for all the support over the years. This isn’t goodbye, this is just, ‘So long.’ I’ll have to take a break for at least three, maybe four months, but I’ll be back.”
I am sure he will be! But for now, I will be praying for him and that he gets the transplant he needs.
Bebe Rexha was performing in Manhattan yesterday when a concertgoer threw his cell phone at her and hit her left eyebrow. She was in so much pain that she fell to her knees.
Members of her crew helped her off the stage, and then they rushed her to the hospital, where a report says that she got three stitches.
Police arrested Nicolas Malvagna, 27, of Manalapan, New Jersey, and charged him with assault. According to WABC, he is expected to be arraigned today.
As of this post, Rexha has not made any comment on the incident. I hope she heals quickly and goes on with the show. She has seven more dates, starting tomorrow night, to play this month.
UPDATE: Bebe Rexha shared some photos and let us know she’s “good.” To see how she looks, then click here!
