I will be the first to admit that sometimes I wonder why I am still watching Grey’s Anatomy. Well tonight’s episode at 9p on ABC reminded me why I am still watching.
Korev and Grey have to go to another hospital to bring a premature baby back to Seattle Grace because they can’t handle her there. On the way back the ambulance they are traveling in breaks down in the middle of the road during a freezing rain storm. The driver tells them to get out of the truck because if they get hit by a car it will go up in flames because of all of the oxygen. Not wanting to leave the baby alone in the ambulance and afraid to take her out of her incubator they decide to stay. A choice that might prove to be fatal when they are hit by a car.
At the end of last week’s episode we saw Teddy’s husband coughing up blood and tonight we will find out why. He will require surgery and Webber is the surgeon. Teddy and him will argue over the procedure that should be done. Which one is right as his life hangs in the balance of their decision?
All I will tell you on both scenarios is not everyone will be alive for the next episode. There will be consequences for everything and a lot of tears and gasps that will take place next week.
But before we get to next week’s show, tune in tonight for a powerful episode that will have you on the edge of your seats until the credits.
Grey’s Anatomy is back on ABC at 9p and we get to find out the consequences of the season finale. As you can see in that above clip Meredith gets fired, but will she keep her baby and will she get McDreamy back or is their new real marriage be over? Did Christina Yang have the abortion and will her marriage be over too? Is Izzie back? One of those is definitely not going to happen.
Besides the soap opera aspects of the medical drama, there is a real medical emergency on the two-hour premiere. And that emergency reminds a lot of a House season finale, the one where they perform an amputation out in the field. And because of that I was not wowed by that aspect of the show. What did wow me was is the Mackenzie Astin is the man who asked to perform the amputation on his wife. It is nice to have him back on TV and he did a great job with that tough decision! I just wish they wrote an original idea for him to play out! I am thinking that Shonda Rimes is too busy coming up with shows for ABC, that I am assuming that she doesn’t have time to come with her original storylines for her show?
The new television season is upon us and that means that last season’s shows are coming out on DVD now. With that we get to see the actors’ mistakes throughout the season and sometimes it is better than anything than we saw all year. Case in point Grey’s Anatomy, where it looks there were a lot of medical mistakes made at Seattle Grace.
Sarah Drew, who I loved on Everwood and hate on Grey’s Anatomy, is pregnant with her first child. According to People her husband Peter Lanfer of 9 years and her are expecting their first child in January. No word if the pregnancy will be written in to the show, but I hope they do and make McDreamy the father. You know maybe she consoled him after he left Meredith in the season finale! That is some drama I would love to see on the ABC show.
Grey’s Anatomy is beginning its 8th season this fall and the original cast members’ contracts are up at the end of it. The first of the original doctors has spoken out about it and Patrick Dempsey says he will not be back for a ninth one. The doctor with the hair told Italian Vanity Fair (via TVLine), “It will be my last. I do not know about the other characters, it may or may not continue. But for me it’s over.” And to me without McDreamy, the show will be a McNightmare.
I know it has been said that ER was able to survive without its original cast members, but that show did it more gradually and they had replacements we liked. I don’t like any of the new doctors on Grey’s. That and ER was more realistic with their medical stories and every episode didn’t feel like a stunt.
To me Grey’s started going downhill after the Super Bowl episode. Yes, I still watch, but almost every week I ask myself why.
So who else will you be upset to see leave? Who do you think will leave? Who do you want to leave? Will you still watch if the originals left the show?
