I am so glad that what Seth MacFarlane said about that if Fox finished his nearly completed Family Guy episodes without him that he would walk from the show, was something that was just said of anger. Family Guy will live on to hopefully to get their 200th episode, they only have 97 more to do to accomplish to that!
I also like that he is optimistic that the WGA strike will end soon and things will go back to almost normal. Let’s hope he is right because we are running out of episodes of our favorite shows and the awards shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars are in jeopardy.
Variety spoke with Seth MacFarlane about the fact that Fox will air a new Family Guy episode this Sunday, that they completed on their own without him.
"It would just be a colossal dick move if they did that," MacFarlane said Tuesday. He said the next three episodes of the show "are relatively close to completion, but they have not had a final pass."
MacFarlane conceded that the Fox network and 20th Century Fox TV, which produces the show, are "legally within their rights" to complete episodes without his sign-off.
"But they've never done anything like this before, in which they've said, ‘We're going to finish a show without you,' " MacFarlane said. "It's really going to be unfortunate and damaging to our relationship if they do it."
How serious are his words that this can damage his relationship with them, this serious.
MacFarlane also has another bit of leverage over 20th: He's been in "final talks" over a new deal with the studio for more than a year. He's been working under an interim agreement, but he says he doesn't have a signed long-term contract with the studio.
"I'm technically in breach of nothing," he said.
I really hope the two of them work it out because I waited two and half years for a new episode, it would be sad to see end this way.
American Idol's Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson guest star on Family Guy tonight. The three will star in the 101st episode of the show when Stewie audtions for American Idol because he wants to take over the world. Tonight's episode is the conclusion of Stewie Kills Lois and we find out if Lois is alive and if Stewie will get life for killing her.
Let's hope everyone lives especially Family Guy because it was reported earlier this week that Seth MacFarlane said this is the last completed episode of the show and if Fox tries to complete the others without him, they will be without him for good.
So tune into Fox tonight at 9p to see what might be the last new Family Guy episode ever.
Variety is reporting something I never expected, Family Guy only has one more episode finished and ready to air. I thought that the animated shows were finished a year ahead of time, guess I was wrong. And reading what Seth MacFarlane is saying below, I am terrified that Family Guy might end episode 101.
"Family Guy" creator-exec producer MacFarlane was another very vocal showrunner at the rally. He maintained that Sunday's "Family Guy" is the last fully produced episode in the can.
There are other episodes close to being finished, but MacFarlane has made it clear that he has no plans to help put those segs together. MacFarlane also has another unique bit of leverage: He provides voices for many main characters on the show, and he said he would not step into the studio to record any further.
So couldn't Fox just go ahead and use other non-WGA producers to wrap things up?
"They could, but it would be unwise," MacFarlane said. "Because I would be angry."
Twentieth isn't saying what it will do.
"Our hope is that he returns to work and completes his nonwriting obligations on those episodes," a spokesman said.
Losing "Family Guy" in the middle of the November sweeps would be tough for Fox, which counts on the longtime Sunday-night staple. It wouldn't be immediately devastating, however. In a testament to just how strong a performer "Family Guy" is, the show does very well in repeats.
Note to Fox, please don't p!ss off Seth MacFarlane and wait until the strike is over before you look the complete the other episodes. Just re-air Blue Harvest (the Star Wars episode) in two parts to get you through sweeps.
BTW the Variety article talks about other shows like Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, but I just can't take anymore bad news.
If you would have told me three years ago that Family Guy would have its 100th episode I never would have believed you! But the day has finally come and Family Guy gets it 100th episode tonight at 9p when Stewie Kills Lois. But before you watch Stewie finally get his wish in this freaking sweet episode we get a clip show of the greatest gags, laughs and musical numbers from 100 episodes of Family Guy at 8:30p!
Stewie Kills Lois is just like every other Family Guy episode when it comes to hysterics except it ends in a cliffhanger. That and Stewie really does kill his mother Lois. Wait until you see how the little terror does it! When I asked Alex Borstein what the future of her character would be, she said that she wasn't sure and would not spoil the 101th episode for us…:(
So where did I talk to Alex Borstein, well this past Monday the cast of Family Guy came out to celebrate their 100th episode in Hollywood! Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis and Mike Henry all came out to blow out all the 100 candles they so richly deserved.
Not only were they there to celebrate turning 100, they were there to celebrate the DVD release date on January 24th of Blue Harvest the Star Wars episode. The DVD will have special features like 3 extra minutes of the show, commentary with Seth MacFarlane, the cast and crew, an interview with George Lucas and 2 minutes shot in 3D with 3D glasses. I can't wait to get my hands on that DVD! But the best news that came out of the night is that several cast members confirmed that they had a table read the Empire Strikes Back episode!!! So that is something we have to look forward to for season 6! The force is with definitely with Family Guy!
So if you have never seen this gem of a show, where the F have you been? It is not too late to start tonight at 8:30p on Fox and in syndication Mondays to Fridays! I promise you this show is beyond freaking sweet!!!
