Sean Hayes draws from personal experience for his Sean Saves the World role! |

Tonight at 9p on NBC’s Sean Saves the World Ellie (Samantha Isler) needs her first bra and Sean (Sean Hayes) is not going to be the one who takes her to buy it. So he lets his BFF, Liz (Megan Hilty), take her and let us just say the bras she buys her are not something a 16 year old should be wearing and maybe not even someone twice her age. Since things didn’t go well the first go around, Sean lets his mother (Linda Lavin) take her and things go even worse. Let’s just say you will hear Lavin say a word you’d never thought you would hear Alice say. And you know what I liked it. So will poor Ellie ever get her bra? You will have to tune to see who actually buys her the most appropriate bra. It’s someone you’d never suspect. You also want to watch because it is a show full of laughs and tender moments and did I say laughs.
Sean Saves the World is NBC’s strongest comedies in years, so why not check it out and find yourself as addicted to it as I am.
A big reason I am addicted to it is because I love everything that Sean Hayes touches. On this show that he produces and stars in, he plays a single parent on the sitcom and that is something he can relate to. Recently at a press day for Sean Saves the World when I asked him if he thought he would be where he is now, 15 years ago when he started out on Will & Grace; he told us about being raised by just his mom. He said, “I live my life out of fear because I grew up in not the best conditions with a single mom raising 5 kids, who couldn’t be there to parent all of us.” Then the proud son added, “I got my drive and ambition from her. So if she can raise 5 kids by herself with barely anything, you can accomplish so much.” Look at what he is accomplished in just 15 years, he stood out on a well-liked ensemble series for many years, played two comedic legends in a biopic and a great re-imagination of another one, produces 5, yes five, shows that are currently on the air and now he stars in his own series. Not bad to do all of that in 15 years.
Now we know that he knows what it is like to be raised by a single parent, but he actually got to try out parenting and that also helped him to prepare for this role. He shared this tidbit with us, “I had the pleasure, and I use the term loosely, to parent my niece for about a year. I pull a lot from that. She’s was exactly Sammy’s (the age of the actress who plays his daughter) age when I did it. There are so many similarities, it’s scary. It is nice to have gone through that and now play this character.”
For someone who has never been a parent, he has a lot of experience with it. And it is that knowledge that shines through on this show. His relationship with his teenage daughter on it is so natural and that makes you want to tune in. That and because it is great family show that everyone can enjoy and relate to when they watch it. And don’t we need that on TV?

Sean Hayes scares us with Grimm, but how does he handle being scared? |
October 4th, 2013 under Ellen DeGeneres, Sean Hayes. [ Comments: none ]

Sean Hayes was a guest on Ellen DeGeneres talk show to promote his sitcom Sean Saves the World, but he wound up promoting the NBC drama he produces, Grimm. She asked the Jack what scares him and he said being on talk shows. Well she gave him another reason to be scared of being on them. That’s cause she had someone dress up as a tree and surprise him by saying “Boo!” His reaction to the fright is the best one I have ever seen on her show. And she has frightened more people than we can count.
I really hope his producing partner, Todd Milliner, sees this and decides to give Tom Lennon his wish of a Halloween episode for Sean Saves the World that airs Thursdays at 9p on NBC. Here’s what I would do, I’d have people dress up and constantly scare Sean throughout the episode. I know I would watch it just to see that reaction again and again and again because it is so cute and funny. Just like his show!
And if it is too late for a Halloween episode, then I hope Thomas Lennon makes a few Vine videos of different people from the show scaring their boss. Who’s with me?

Before Sean Hayes changed his career on like every episode of Will & Grace, he was running an escort service on Silk Stalkings. He looks the same now as he did when he was 26 in that 1996 episode.

Sean Saves the World and NBC’s Thursday nights! |
October 3rd, 2013 under Sean Hayes. [ Comments: none ]

Sean Hayes is back in front of the television camera tonight at 9p on NBC with Sean Saves the World and you don’t want to miss the best comedy to happen to NBC’s Thursday nights since Will & Grace ended. This sitcom reminds me of the days when Thursdays were must watch on NBC, so I know you are going to love this show as much as I do.
Sean’s ex-wife has left town and decided to give him full custody of his teenage daughter, Ellie (Samantha Isler). Since he let his ex raise her, he is new to this whole parenting thing. Good thing his overbearing and yet surprisingly hip mother (Linda Lavin) will be there to tell him what to do all the time. Which Sean isn’t exactly happy about because he doesn’t think Lorna did the best job raising him. Something you will see in a future episode and it will have you laughing for weeks after you see it. Like a lot of the jokes on the show.
Sean’s life isn’t only changing at home, it is also changing at work. He has a new boss, Max (Thomas Lennon) who is so uptight he can turn coal into diamonds if you know what I mean. He expects Sean and everyone on the staff including his friend, Hunter (Echo Kellum) to work long hours. Those hours will make it difficult for him to spend time with his daughter, so he will do everything his power to disobey his boss. That will lead to a lot of tension between them and a lot of laughs for us.
Then next week you will meet his best friend, Liz (Megan Hilty), who knew he gay the second she met him as a caterer at his wedding to his ex-wife. And maybe she made a mistake announcing that fact on that day, but hey he still has her and not his ex so it all worked out. I should mention that his mother hates her and the feeling is mutual. So Sean and Ellie will find themselves in the middle of their fights.
In fact Sean will find himself in the middle of it all and somehow he will save the world that he lives in!
This is a throwback to the classic sitcom formula, but modernized for today’s world. So it is something everyone can enjoy because it both old and new at the same time. And we need more of these sitcoms on our TVs because they sincerely do make the world a better place. And Sean Saves the World is definitely a show that does that. So watch it tonight and every Thursday at 9p.
Don’t take my word for it, here is how the actors and producers from the show feel about it. I recently went to the set and they all told me how much love the show and Sean Hayes.
Sean Hayes: “I love playing this character because it is very close to me, as far as maturing over time. I am a very quiet, grounded, private person for the most part in life. So I like that and it is a 180 from Jack McFarland from Will & Grace. In that Jack was irresponsible, flighty, flaky, promiscuous, all those things that this character isn’t. This character is responsible and grounded, has a job, goal oriented all of those things. It’s fun to be the one who puts out the fires and be the voice of reason on the show.”
Linda Lavin: “I like this character very much. She has a spirit. I think that Sean and her have a similar sense of humor, so they spar with each other and they challenge each other. I like that about her.”
Thomas Lennon: “Honestly, this is the best job I have ever had. I love playing the villain. I love getting to ruin the fun time everyone is having. It is basically the dream role for me.”
Echo Kellum: On Megan Hilty – “I was a little worried about Megan actually because seeing just the stuff on Smash, she looks kind of mean. But she’s so funny, so sill and so awesome. It is a pleasure to work with her.”
Executive Producer Todd Milliner: On his producing partner Sean Hayes (Hot In Cleveland, Grimm, Hollywood Game Night, The Soul Man and SStW – “I think he waited the right amount of time to go back, so I think he is ready to be back on TV in a full basis.”

Sean Hayes knows how to make an entrance! |
October 1st, 2013 under David Letterman, Sean Hayes. [ Comments: none ]

Sean Hayes was on The Late Show yesterday and boy does he know how to make an entrance. While most people just walk on to the stage normally to greet Davide Letterman, Hayes was leaps and bounds ahead of them. He entered from the balcony and jumped down to the main floor. His entrance was so grand that it will knock your hat off. Well at least it knocked that one guy’s cap off!
BTW if you think that was spectacular, then wait until you see his new sitcom Sean Saves the World this Thursday at 9p on NBC. I can’t stop praising this comedy and I am sure you will feel the same way.
