The first new show of the Fall season premieres tonight at 9p on Fox and I hope the rest of the new shows are as good as Nashville
When you consider that the top selling artists from American Idol go to Nashville for their record labels and sound, it would only make sense that Fox would go to that same city for their new docu-soap. Nashville is the story of what it is really like to try to make it in the music industry without the help of a show like American Idol to launch you! And believe me this show is a real eye-opener and really fun to watch.
Nashville revolves around the lives of singers and songwriters at different stages of their careers from just starting out to on the brink of making it to trying to make a comeback. It also deals with friendships, dating and breaking up. It is like those MTV shows, but this one is based in America's heartland so unlike the others it is full of heart.
When the first episode ends, it leaves you wanting more and running to your computer to see whose album you can pick up because you know these guys are all going to make it!  That and they all sound good! Wait until you see Chucks Wicks Showcase you will be blown away by his sound and voice!
So tune into Nashville on Fox tonight at 9p and every Friday night for some good old music and stories of making it in "the biggest small town in America!!!”

State of Mind premieres on Lifetime tonight at 9p
July 15th, 2007 under Lifetime, Reviews. [ Comments: none ]

State of Mind premieres tonight on Lifetimes at 9p. State of Mind is the like Grey’s Anatomy but instead of a hospital it takes place shared psychiatrists’ office. The show stars Lili Taylor who finds out her husband (who has office in the house) has been cheating on her. It also stars Derek Riddell as Dr. James LeCroix as unconventional child psychiatrist and all I can say is they need to give him more of a role in the show if they want to keep me watching. I tried to like to this show, but something about it just didn’t work for me. Considering I will be watching the show before and after this (Side Order of Life and Army Wives) on Lifetime, I will probably watch this because it is on in between them.

Side Order of Life premieres on Lifetime at 8p tonight!
July 15th, 2007 under Lifetime, Reviews. [ Comments: none ]

Side Order of Life premieres on Lifetime tonight at 8p and I have to admit I really like this show. The show had me at Jason Priestley, but by the end of the pilot he was just one of the many reasons why I will keep watching this show. It is sweet, touching, funny, make you cry and all in all it will leave you wanting more. Side Order of Life stars Marisa Coughlan as Jenny McIntyre, who was last seen on Boston Public as a photographer for a magazine who is now seeing more than just the picture in her photographs. She is engaged to Ian Denison (Jason Priestley) and it is about to walk down the aisle with him, or will her wedding day nerves postpone their nuptials. Jenny’s best friend, Vivy Porter (Diana Maria Riva) gives her some life altering news that will change the way Jenny sees everything and changes who Jenny who is for the better. I was not sure what to expect from the show from the trailer above, but seriously there is so much more to the show than just that. It is the perfect show to go with Lifetime’s huge hit Army Wives.

Spielberg on Spielberg premieres on TCM tonight at 8p
July 9th, 2007 under Reviews, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

I have to admit I am not one Steven Spielberg's biggest fans, but this 90 minute documentary, Spielberg on Spielberg is amazing. Say what I/you want about him but he has directed most of the biggest money makers of all time so it was interesting to see how those movies came about. It starts out how he got started in the biz and even shows his first films and pictures of him as a teen and young lad. I didn't know he started in TV, did you? It then goes on to describe his first feature film Duel which is one my dad's favorite movies. From there on we learn about all of his films and how they came about.

It was really interesting and a fast moving 90 minutes that leaves you wanting more! Whether you are Spielberg fan, seen one of his films or just want to learn about the business from one of the most respect men in the biz you will enjoy this show. So tune into TCM tonight at 8p and watch what he has to say!

Girl, Positive is a must watch movie on Lifetime tonight at 9p
June 26th, 2007 under Lifetime, Reviews. [ Comments: none ]

Girl Positive premieres on Lifetime tonight at 9p and this is a must watch movie for people of all ages. The movie is about a high school junior who finds out the first guy she slept with was a heroin user and HIV+ when he died in car accident. Now she has to be brave enough to take the test and find out what the results are.
While that might sound like an important movie 20 years ago. the reality is in so many ways it is just as true today. Teenagers think HIV can’t happen to them and if it does they can just go on the cocktail. Yes you can go on the cocktail and yes it is effective, if you don’t have any complications from the meds and you remember to take the pills everyday. This movie touches on that, touches on rapid AIDS testing and that the stigma of being HIV+ has not changed.
Jennie Garth plays a substitute teacher who is HIV+ and works at an AIDS clinic, but keeps her status a secret. Her character Sarah Bennett is there for Rachel Sandler (Andrea Bowen, Desperate Housewives) who gets tested for HIV and runs from the results. Finally Sarah is ready to deal with the results, but everyone around her treats her like she has the plague until they realize that they too can be in the same boat.
When you watch the movie you might think it is an exaggeration of the scenario, but the reality is it is right on. There is very little in this movie that is not accurately portrayed. Half the new HIV cases each day are under 25 and to this day HIV does not discriminate on sex, race, sexual orientation or financial status. So tonight sit down and watch this movie because you know what it effects us all.
BTW June 27th is National HIV Testing Day, so if you had sex without a condom or shot up drugs think about getting tested. With rapid testing you will be able to know in less time than it takes to watch a sitcom.
