On March 23rd, Punxsutawney Phil and his wife Punxsutawney Phylis became first-time parents to a baby boy and a baby girl.
Since then, the babies have gone nameless. But this weekend, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club finally revealed their names.
They gathered the town on Mother’s Day and held an event like they do on Groundhog’s Day to reveal that the pups shall be known as Sunny and Shadow.
I can’t think of two better names for the offspring of the most famous groundhog in the world. Punxsutawney Phil is the one who tells us every February 2nd whether or not we will have six more freezing weeks or not. If he sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of Winter. If it is sunny, then we will have an early Spring.
It has been almost two months since Punxsutawney Phil told us we were going to get an early Spring. And Spring has sprung early for our favorite groundhog because his spring sprung.
Punxsutawney Phil and his wife, Punxsutawney Phyllis, are proud parents.
The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club announced “that Phil and Phyllis have given birth to two healthy baby Groundhogs! The babies are currently in with mom and dad at the zoo that is located at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library.”
Congrats to the family of four and the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania whose tradition will go on for years to come due to these two new additions.
Is it wrong that if the babies are boys, I hope that they are named Bill and Murray?
Today is Groundhog’s Day, so that means we are going to watch the Bill Murray movie again.
Well, that, and find out if Punxsutawney Phil is going to see his shadow. If he sees it, that means we get six more weeks of Winter. And if he doesn’t, then we get an early Spring.
So what happened this morning? He didn’t see it! So start exercising because the warm weather is going to come sooner than we know it!
Today is Groundhog’s Day, the day we celebrate the Bill Murray movie, which turned 30. It is also the day that Punxsutawney Phil comes out of a tree and tells us if we are going to have six more weeks of winter or less.
If he sees his shadow, then winter will be with us for six more long weeks. So did he see it? Does anyone know what a groundhog tastes like to eat?
This is the coldest winter I have experienced in LA since I moved here in 2001. I don’t like it. There is a reason why I moved to sunny California, and so far this year, I am getting the weather I grew up with in NYC. Their winter is even warmer than ours this year.
That’s it. I want some groundhog jerky, and I want it now! If Punxsutawney Phil is going to be a jerk about the weather, then he can be made into jerky.
Happy Groundhog’s Day! Can we redo it so that that furry little thing doesn’t see his shadow?
Today is Groundhog’s Day, so we get to find out how many weeks of winter we have. For 136 years, Punxsutawney Phil ventured out of his tree in Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, PA., to see if he could see his shadow. And he did this morning. So get ready to cozy up in front of the fire for six more weeks because this cold weather is not going anywhere.
Where is Bill Murray when you need him because I want a redo? Brrrrrrr.
