RIP Gary Coleman
May 28th, 2010 under Gary Coleman, Obits. [ Comments: 1 ]

Gary Coleman passed away today at the age 42 after suffering a brain hemorrhage two days ago from a fall at his house according to People. The hospital released this statement, “Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated. Family members express their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them.” No word who exactly was at his side, but I am assuming his wife, Shannon Price of almost 3 years was with him.
Although it seemed like he had the future in his hands when he was on Diff’rent Strokes, as he got older he had a lot of issues and run-ins with the law. Let’s not remember him for those, but remember him as that cute chubby cheeked actor who would said “What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” and won our hearts.
Back when I was kid I had a huge crush on him, so his death is hitting me hard. Hopefully now he is finding happiness and standing 7′ tall in heaven!

RIP Lena Horne
May 10th, 2010 under Obits. [ Comments: none ]

The woman whose voice was as beautiful as she was has been silenced. Lena Horne passed away yesterday at the age of 92 according to The NY Times. The singer/actress broke grounds as the first African-American performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a movie studio and that studio was MGM. She is best known for singing Stormy Weather in the movie of the same title as the song. But those of us from a younger generation will remember her from The Wiz or The Cosby Show. I personally was introduced to her on Sanford and Son, so take 22 minutes and remember the legend by watching her in the above episode.
Side note: The last few seconds of that episode is great way to say goodbye to her, so make sure to watch it all the way through.

Lynn Redgrave has lost her 7 year battle with breast cancer yesterday at the age of 67 according to the SF Gate. The legendary actress passed away with Ben, Pema and Annabel and close friends at her side at her home in Connecticut. Her children released this statement, “Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.”
It has been a sh!tty year for the Redgraves because she is the third death for the family in a year. Natasha Richardson died a year ago from a head injury and Lynn’s brother Corin Redgrave passed away last month. Lynn was the youngest of the children in that generation of the Redgrave acting dynasty.
