Bill Paxton passed away today at the age of 61 from complications due to heart surgery according to TMZ.

His people released this statement about his death, “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” the statement said. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker.”

While CBS and Warner Bros released this statement about the actor who was currently starring on their show Training Day, “We are shocked and deeply saddened this morning by the news of Bill Paxton’s passing. Bill was, of course, a gifted and popular actor with so many memorable roles on film and television. His colleagues at CBS and Warner Bros. Television will also remember a guy who lit up every room with infectious charm, energy, and warmth, and as a great storyteller who loved to share entertaining anecdotes and stories about his work. All of us here offer our deepest sympathy to his wife, Louise, and his two children.”

Paxton had a presence on the screen in movies like Weird Science, Twister, Aliens and Titanic to name a few, so when we saw the news today we feel like we lost someone we know well. He might not be with us, but his presence is still felt on the big and small screen. When it comes to that he was starring in the small screen version of the big screen version Training Day that airs on Thursday nights on CBS at 10p. Even though show is currently airing, all the ordered episodes have been filmed. No decision on the show’s future has been made because it is too early in the show’s run.

Today, remember him for the great actor and man he was.

Mary Tyler Moore has passed away today most likely due complications of Diabetes. Her rep told The Huffington Post, “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”
That she did via two of the greatest sitcoms of all time. She became a household name when she starred as housewife Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show from 1961-1966. Four years later, she fronted a show with her name in the title and made us love her even more as newswoman Mary Richards.
She didn’t only do comedy she starred in Ordinary People in 1980 and was honored with her only Oscar nom. Sadly, that was the same year her only child died by an accidental gun shot.
Even as the Diabetes was slowly destroying her body, she kept on acting. Her last role was on Hot in Cleveland when she reunited wither MTM co-stars in 2013.
Those are just her roles, but her legacy and laughter will live on forever. She was an inspirational woman for little girls over the last 5 decades. Any girl who watched her on MTM knew they could make it after all just like her. I know I have ever since I saw her throw her hat off for the very time back when I was just toddler.
She was the type of actress, you just wanted to know and we feel like we knew her. So her death is breaking our hearts. But keep in mind, she will live on forever with her shows and movies. In fact, you can watch The Mary Tyler Moore Show every Sunday night on Me TV (like I do) or The Dick Van Dyke Show on Cozi TV every Saturday. Or just watch them online like I will be spending the next few days doing.

RIP Debbie Reynolds

Less than 36 hours after Carrie Fisher died, her mother Debbie Reynolds joined her in heaven. Her son Todd Fisher told Entertainment Tonight, the 84 year old “missed her daughter (Carrie) and wanted to very much be with her and she had discussed some other things. She had been very strong the last several days; (there was) enormous stress on her, obviously.” Then he added, “And this morning, she said those words to me and 15 minutes later she had a stroke and virtually left.” An inseparable love this mother and daughter shared which was chronicled in the movie Postcards from the Edge which was based on Fisher’s book about her life growing up.
Before Reynolds was a mother, she was a triple threat singing, dancing and acting in such classic Hollywood hits like Singin’ in the Rain, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and The Singing Nun, to name a few. In the ’50s, she became a mom to Todd and Carrie with her first husband Eddie Fisher, who left his family for Elizabeth Taylor. She didn’t let that get her down and she kept on sharing her talents with the world. In recent years, she went on to guest star on several shows like The Golden Girls, Rugrats and Will & Grace.
Not only was she a Hollywood Icon, she also saved several of Hollywood’s iconic items. She amassed a collection of what studios thought was Hollywood trash and restored the costumes and props to their original glory. Sadly, over the last decade she had to sell off her collection, but they went to people who will love them as much as she did.
Today, we should honor someone who made Hollywood what it is today, by keeping her beauty alive just like she did with all the props from the Golden Era of Hollywood.

The saddest picture from 2016
December 28th, 2016 under Obits. [ Comments: none ]

Time and time again we have said that 2016 sucks because it started off by taking David Bowie and ended with Carrie Fisher’s passing. We say it every time another legend died, but nothing captured the awfulness of this year like ChrisTheBarker‘s reimagination of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper album cover with all the greats we lost in the last 350+ days. In fact, the artist thought he was done, but then he had to update it again with Status Quo’s Rick Parfitt, George Michael, Liz Smith and finally Princess Leia who being beamed from R2-D2’s chest. Star Wars’ Kenny Baker also passed away this year along with Prince, Abe Vigoda, Florence Henderson, Nancy Reagan, Garry Shandling, Pete Burns, Gene Wilder and the list sadly goes on and on.
The next time someone says to you that 2016 sucked, just show them picture by ChrisTheBarker to prove to them that it truly did.
Now let’s pray he doesn’t have to update again because enough is enough.

Carrie Fisher passed away today at the age of 60 from the heart attack she suffered on Friday according to The New York Times.
She always has been and will always be Princess Leia from the Star Wars franchise. We loved her for that role as much as we love her what she did and said off-camera. She was an open book and as author of many autobiographies, she shared anything and everything about her life. Nothing was a secret and it was refreshing. From the good times to the bad times, she made us laugh and understand what she was going through.
She was a survivor until the end and now her legacy will live on through her movies, her daughter Billie Lourd and her dog Gary.
Today, keep her force alive by watching one of her many roles or interviews. It has I will be spending the day.
