ABC closes the book on Castle and The Muppets!!!
May 12th, 2016 under Galavant, Ken Jeong, Nathan Fillion, Sesame Street/Muppets. [ Comments: none ]

Somewhere Stana Katic is doing a happy dance! Just weeks after she was fired from Castle, ABC cancelled the show!
My theory is ABC was paying attention to the online chatter about people despising the idea of the show going on without Beckett, and realized it wasn’t worth bringing it back. That and the pitch for next season must’ve been awful. I mean they just renewed the contracts of Nathan Fillion, Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever in the last few days, so they were seriously thinking of bringing it back. But at the last minute they said no to renewing one of their highest rated scripted shows. Something had to happen to make them change their minds so suddenly.
So I guess you can say the show is called Castle, but it can’t just go on with just Fillion. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Am I sad to see this show go? Not at all. The last few seasons have been horrible with this one being the worst by far. Thus, I am happy to say goodbye to this procedural this Monday night.
Team Stana!

UPDATE: ABC also cancelled the very disappointing The Muppets. Synergy couldn’t save the comedy and I am happy it didn’t. It was just The Muppets without any heart. Without that they were destroying everything they were built on. So good riddance. That and how dare they break up Kermit and Miss Piggy.

UPDATE 2: TV Line is reporting that Castle filed an alternate ending in case it got cancelled.

UPDATE 3: The fat lady sang because Galavant was cancelled. I loved that show. Even though I knew it was going to get cancelled, it still breaks my heart it won’t be back.

UPDATE: ABC picked up Dr Ken for a second season. This show didn’t have the best pilot, but every episode since then has been really funny. They learned how to write for the full cast and they all deliver brilliantly.

Looks like Molly Quinn will be back on Castle next season?
April 19th, 2016 under Nathan Fillion. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday, it was announced that ABC did not ask two of Castle’s female leads to come back next season, if there is one. While Stana Katic and Tamala Jones will not be back, to me it looks like Molly Quinn will return for season 9. Why do I say that? Today she Tweeted, “It’ll be different, way way way different, but it is #Castle @NathanFillion IS Castle.”
So a little background, according to the rumors, Katic and Nathan Fillion did not get along. Us Weekly even claims that things got so bad, they went to couples counseling this season to work out their difference. Does not sound like it worked.
These rumors have been around for years and it looks like Quinn sided with her TV dad per her last Tweet on this matter. She did Tweet earlier, “Yesterday was a horrible day. Ya’ll’re right, I did work with @Stana_Katic and @tamalajones for 8 yrs. I love them. I’m heartbroken.”
I am reading too much between the lines because I have to admit I sided with Katic on the matter. Without Beckett keeping Castle in order, the show is seems out of control. Just let Castle do what he wants and that gets boring fast because he comes off as a buffoon. Without the police force backing him up, he does what he wants and that gets old fast.
When it comes to Quinn staying on, I find her just blah. Katic was one of the few leading ladies, teamed up with a male lead, who actually had some balls.
ABC, in my opinion, really screwed things up and the only way to rectify their mistake is to end the show this season That and the show has majorly declined creatively this season. It is barely watchable and yesterday’s episode was not even that.
Coincidentally, yesterday’s episode was called Backstabber. Talk about reading between the lines…
I should add Fillion Tweeted this statement, “Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come. Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett, who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television. I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed.”

Just end Castle now!
April 18th, 2016 under Nathan Fillion. [ Comments: none ]

It seems like the last few seasons of Castle have ended with contract negotiations between the leads Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, and this season one of them wasn’t asked to renew their contract according to Deadline. ABC reportedly needs to save some money on the ageing procedural and they did not ask Katic and Tamala Jones to return for the 9th season, if there is one.
I ask you, with these forced departures, is there any reason for this show to go on? I say close the book on this series. It is time. Actually it has been time ever since they made Castle disappear on his wedding day and still have not explained what really happened. They tried to this season, but I got bored and fell asleep during that episode.
On that note, a few weeks ago, my friend predicted that show was going to turn into Castle running his private eye agency with his daughter (Molly C. Quinn) and Hayley (Toks Olagundoye). I guess she was right, and I was really hoping she was wrong.
Back to Katic, here is what she had to say to Deadline about her departure, “Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.” I am sure this won’t be the last we see of her. She will wind up on something that appreciates her. Something Castle hasn’t done in years.

UPDATE: Jon Huertas Tweeted an update about Seamus Dever and his situation, “Who knows what ABC has in store at this point. @seamusdever & I haven’t been asked back yet either… Uh oh. #NothingIsAsitSeemsAnymore” Without the four of them there really is not reason to do another season.

Nathan Fillion got the Fabio
April 4th, 2016 under Nathan Fillion. [ Comments: none ]

Nathan Fillion has had short hair for most of his career, but now he was seen with shoulder length wavy locks. I know I said he got the Fabio, but would that be considered the Tarzan or ’90s Ricky Martin? Whatever you want to call it, it makes him looks so much sexier. If ABC renews Castle, I think he should grow out. Why can’t Richard Castle go from Crime novelist to a Romantic one? I’d like to see him write his version of a trashy novel? How hot would that be?

The X-Files is spooky and Castle goes A Capella
February 8th, 2016 under Nathan Fillion, X-Files. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMd7a618PRg
Tonight at 8p on Fox, we get the 4th episode of the 6 episode X-Files event.
In Philadelphia, a group of people are forcibly relocating homeless people off of the street and now the ones responsible are dying very gruesome deaths.
Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny) are called in to investigate the murders because they are “spooky.” Will they be able solve the crime before anyone else dies or will this unknown creature kill all of his targets?
Things will get complicated for them when Scully gets a phone call that her mother had a major heart attack and is in a coma at a DC hospital. She goes to be with her mom, but it makes her think about William. For the first time in the revival, the agents really deal with the son they gave up for adoption. Get the tissues ready because you are going to need them.
While I am happy Fox brought back The X-Files, I am sad it is only for 6 episodes because each one is better than the one before.

Then over on ABC at 10p, Castle is finally back and it is something to sing about.
Martha (Susan Sullivan) is rehearsing for a charity performance that calls for fake snow to fall down on her and her backup singers, but instead of the white stuff coming down, blood pours down. When they bring the storage container down, they find a woman inside.
Now it is up to Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stania Katic) to solve the crime, but via different paths. You see, they are back together secretly, but everyone including Ravi (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) still they think they apart. Which makes things awkward for Castle and the two detectives because he has to lie to them and tells them that he is having an affair. When they hear that, they turn against them. Can they forgive him without knowing the real truth of the situation?
Back to the murder, turns out the victim was in an A Capella group, and Ravi talks to them in the only language they understand, music. Be prepared to blown way by Huertas’ singing voice, I know I was. Castle needs to do musical episode just to accommodate it.
Until then we have tonight’s wonderful episode.
