Outkast have announced they are planning to tour, but with only one member. Big Boi, one half of the Atlanta duo, has said that Andre 3000 will not play live. He revealed: "I will be going out down the road. My brother (Andre), he’s not doing this side of the fence, just chilling. But who knows what the future holds. We’re gonna see what happens, ‘cause we got the ball and it’s first down." The last release by the band, 2003’s ‘Speakerboxx’/’The Love Below’, was composed of two solo albums by Big Boi and Andre 3000 respectively. However, the band – as a duo – are set still to release ‘Idlewild’, the film and album, in August. Discussing the subject of the film, Andre 3000 said: "It’s about this entertainer who at the top of his career just totally, completely stops doing it. He moves back to his hometown and teaches these five or six musically talented kids. Every show, we have a new song produced and performed by me and the kids, so stay tuned." "The movie takes place in the 1930s, but it’s hip," he told MTV. "It’s a new musical…whatever you have liked about OutKast in the past, when you go to the movie theatre…you’ll be pleased. Believe me."

DIRTY Pretty Things took it out on MTV presenter Zane Lowe when he tried to stop them smoking backstage at the Oxegen festival. We’re told: "The band were on a bender and lit up in a no-smoking area. When Zane asked them to stop, guitarist Dids punched him and the others joined in." An MTV spokesman said: "Luckily Zane was OK and didn’t make a fuss about it."

For a little man, Davy Jones is a big d!ck |

Rhino has set an Aug. 15 release date for expanded editions of the first two albums from TV stars turned pop idols the Monkees. Both will be issued as two-disc packages including stereo and mono mixes plus rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks. 1966’s "The Monkees," which spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart, sports previously unreleased alternate mixes of "Papa Gene’s Blues" and "The Kind of Girl I Could Love," a version of "I Don’t Think You Know Me" with Micky Dolenz on vocals, a jingle for Kellogg’s and a demo for "Propinquity (I’ve Just Begun To Care)." The following year’s "More of the Monkees" was even more successful than its predecessor, spending 18 weeks at No. 1. Among the bonus tracks are "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)" with narration by Peter Tork, the first recorded version of "Valleri," an alternate take of "Tear Drop City" and a different mix of "I’m a Believer." Owing to a history of inter-band acrimony, the Monkees last toured with all four original members in 1997. Minus Nesmith, Dolenz, Tork and Davy Jones subsequently hit the road on several occasions but have no plans to work together in the future. "I would not work with those guys again if my life depended on it," Jones recently told Scripps Howard News Service. "I can’t be responsible for their attitudes and the way they treat people."

Earth, Wind and Fire kaput? |

EARTH, WIND + FIRE star PHILIP BAILEY fears the funk supergroup will never fully reform because too many members have different ideas about what the band should be doing. The constantly touring SEPTEMBER hitmakers attempted a full reunion shortly after they were inducted into the Rock + Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 – but it fell flat. Bailey recalls, "When we got back together people had different agendas, objectives and views for their lives. We couldn’t really put it back together the way it was." THE EASY LOVER singer also fears he’ll never perform alongside MAURICE WHITE again after the founding force of the supergroup revealed to the world he’s suffering from neurological disorder Parkinson’s Disease. Bailey adds, "He doesn’t tour with us anymore. He hasn’t toured in years because physically he just can’t do it. "He doesn’t really sing that much… and if you haven’t sung constantly for 10 years, those muscles have to be exercised and used, so it’s not like he’s singing the way he was back in the day." But Bailey confirms White still records with the group.

Arctic Monkey’s bassist wants back in |

BEFORE they go overseas, Arctic Monkeys are heading home to Sheffield for crunch talks with departed bassist ANDY NICHOLSON. He quit the band last month during their US tour blaming exhaustion. NICK O’MALLEY replaced him – but now Andy wants to meet Alex on home turf to ask to rejoin. My source said: “There had been tension in the band from being cooped up on the road for months. Andy had a falling out with Alex and left. “But he has missed being part of the band he founded and wants to reclaim his place back before they record their second album.”

I guess all he needed was a good night’s sleep.
