Who asked for a killer backpack movie?
December 1st, 2023 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

I love creature feature Horror movies with odd objects like breast implants, a pinata, a sofa, donuts, a toilet, and so on.

So when I saw that SRS Cinema posted a trailer for a movie called Amityville Backpack, I just had to watch it. And it did not disappoint!

When the rather hapless Luther Boots buys a backpack at a garage sale, people around him start turning up dead! He begins to suspect his new accessory may be to blame, and he begins investigating. Tracking its history, he discovers it has connections back to a haunted house in a small town called Amityville…

Can Luther rid himself of the cursed pack, or will the temptation for revenge ultimately consume him, and those he cares about most?

It is going to be so bad, it is going to be great!

Is Terrifier 3 going too far?
November 10th, 2023 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

I feel like I am one of the few Horror fans who despises The Terrifier franchise. The first movie had one good kill, and the second one was gory to be gory. It was a sick Torture Porn film just to be disgusting.

And, of course, they got a third movie, and that film is going to be Christmas-themed. In the first scene, which was shown as a teaser in movie theaters, we see that Art the Clown is dressed up as Santa Claus, and it looks like he chops up a kid with an axe.

A scene that writer/director Damien Leone tells JoBlo will be controversial. And then he adds that “that is not even the big kill scene.”

And with that, I am out. Granted, I was already out.

I know there is an audience for his films. It is just not me. And I don’t feel bad for all the people who go to see it in October and get sick watching it. You know what you are in for, so you have no one to blame but yourself.

The SAG-AFTRA strike is over!
November 8th, 2023 under Movies, Primetime TV. [ Comments: none ]

After 118 days, SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP finally reached a tentative agreement, and that means the strike is over.

“We are thrilled and proud to tell you that today your TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee voted unanimously to approve a tentative agreement with the AMPTP,” the Actors Union wrote. “As of 12:01am PT on Nov. 9, our strike is officially suspended and all picket locations are closed.”

So now that the actors can go back to work, what does that mean for the broadcast TV shows? According to Deadline, production is expected to start after Thanksgiving. And that means that they should be able to do 10-13 episodes this season. However, not all of the shows will make it onto the 2023-2024 schedule. Some of them will be pushed to next season.

When it comes to film, Deadline is reporting they could be heading back to work as early as next week.

I am so happy that these strikes are finally over, and people can go back to doing what they love to do!

Congrats on getting a fair deal!!!

Who doesn’t love a killer Teddy Bear?
November 1st, 2023 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

I love creature features because, most of the time, they are in the joke. For example, Teddiscare knows the concept of an oversized killer Teddy Bear is crazy, but they still made the movie. And it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun!

Plus, you can show it to the kids in your life who have way too many stuffed animals on their beds. After they watch this movie, they will throw all those things out!

Granted, they will be sleeping in your bed with you for a while. But at least they will have room on their beds when they are brave enough to sleep there again.

Would you pay $5 to see an unknown movie?
October 25th, 2023 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

AMC Theaters

AMC is launching a new program called Screen Unseen. That is where you pay $5 plus tax to see a movie that no one has seen before. And they won’t tell you what it is until the movie starts. All you will know is what the MPA rated it.

Then, when it is over, write a short review on Twitter with #AMCScreenUnseen to win a film fanatic prize pack.

So would you do it? I wouldn’t because, with my luck, I would have to sit through some boring potential Oscar nom.
