Remember when American Idol started in 2002, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson were the judges and Ryan Seacrest was the host? Well, it almost wasn’t that way.
Today, when Seacrest was on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the first American Idol asked him if it was true he was almost a judge on the singing competition.
“Originally, when the producers, Nigel [Lythgoe] and Ken [Warwick], were setting up the show, they heard me on the radio here in Los Angeles, and they thought I might fit the panel to be up there with whoever else was already on,” he told Clarkson. “Wait, a minute. I would love to audition to be the host. And I auditioned eventually to be the host. And I got the job.”
And 21 years later. He still has the job. And he might not still have it if he were a judge instead of a host.
Could you imagine him as a judge? I can’t. So I am happy it didn’t happen.
And can we talk about how Taylor Hicks looks exactly the same? But then again, he looked like an old man back then too.
Kelly Clarkson had Carol Burnett on her show today to celebrate her 90th, and the host wasn’t the only one asking questions. The audience wanted to learn more about the legendary comedian.
So a woman wanted to know if there is anything left that she wants to accomplish. Without hesitation, Burnett said, “George Clooney!”
Hopefully, he will say yes. Although that it might be the death of her. And what a way to go! I can just hear him telling everyone she let one last Tarzan scream, and then she died with a big smile on her face as though Tim Conway was telling her a story about an elephant.
Last week, Keanu Reeves got some puppy love on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. And today, which is National Puppy Day, he is getting it on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
The daytime talk show had a playpen full of puppies to celebrate the holiday, and they were just playing around and having some fun. However, when John Wick came out, they wanted to play with him. So he went over to them, they tried to break out of their cell like it was a prison break.
Since he is a puppy whisperer, he was able to get them to calm down so that Clarkson could talk to him about John Wick 4, which comes at midnight.
When it comes to the puppies’ reaction, I don’t blame them. I would do the same thing if I saw him in person. Who wouldn’t? He is the internet’s boyfriend for a reason, as well as one for puppies.
Jimmy Fallon is an actor and a comedian, but I think he would also love to be a singer. So it makes sense that he would audition for The Voice to see if any of the coaches would turn their chairs around for him during a blind audition.
So, The Tonight Show host came out singing Michael McDonald’s I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near) just like the singer.
Was it good enough for the coaches? Kelly Clarkson was the first one to turn around, and Niall Haron was right behind her. They broke into laughter, so Chance the Rapper had to see what they were laughing about. And he topped their reaction, partially because he thought it was the real Michael McDonald. How does he even know who McDonald is?
What about retiring coach Blake Shelton? He knew there was something up, so he didn’t hit the button. But don’t worry, Fallon did it for him. And what did Mr. Gewn Stefani think of his friend’s performance? “It didn’t take me long to figure out it was Jimmy Fallon, and there was no way I was going to hit my button,” the Country singer said. “He does not deserve a chair turn on this show. Jimmy’s impersonation is the equivalent of walking up to Michael McDonald and slapping him in the face as hard as you can.”
I wish that Fallon and Shelton had a reality show where they took each other to try new things because Blake is a little bit Country, and Fallon is a little bit Rock’n’Roll.
Niall Horan joined The Voice this upcoming season and has already found a way to piss off Blake Shelton, who is ending his reign on the NBC singing competition show. How? The Irishman can impersonate the Country singer.
Their co-coach Kelly Clarkson loves it so much she asked him to do it on her daytime talk show today. Not only does the One Direction singer sound like Mr. Gwen Stefani, but he also knows exactly what he would say.
What does Shelton think of Horan’s impression? He thinks it sounds like Forrest Gump. Has Blake heard himself?
