Dirty Dancing is turning 40 next year, and for some reason, they think we need a sequel to the coming-of-age period drama.
Jennifer Grey will reprise her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the movie, which is currently being written and expected to start filming later this year.
“The role of Baby has held a very deep and meaningful place in my heart, as it has in the hearts of so many fans over the years,” the actress said. “I’ve long wondered where we might find Baby years later and what her life might be like, but it’s taken time to assemble the kind of people that I felt could be entrusted to build on the legacy of the original film… and I’m excited to say that ‘It looks like the wait will soon be over!’”
Maybe I am wrong, but is this movie as beloved as some think it is? I would rather see a John Hughes film get a follow-up, but without him, who wants one? On that note, without Patrick Swayze, what is the point? Grey is just not a big enough of a draw to me. Is she for you?

Am I the only one who can’t believe the woman with those muscles is 62 years old? She looks fantastic, even better than she did in that 1987 movie that made her star. What do you think?
Before Jennifer Grey was the bitchy sister in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, she was just a bitch in The Great Love Experiment. She looks the same now as did when she was 23 in that 1984 Afterschool Special.
Grey had this to say about this telemovie, “ohmyyyy… okay, i don’t remember anything about this, or why i have a weird faux southern accent,” she wrote, “it was one of my very first jobs, i believe it was an after school special? but look who’s there…my gorgeous real life best friend @tracy.pollan!!!”
