Law & Order: Criminal Intent actors unhappy with no raise |

Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Chris Noth are not happy that they will not be getting their annual 5% raise this year and have not signed their contracts yet according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actors have until 5p to accept the offer if they want to remain with the show.
The show is taking a major pay cut because it is moving from NBC to USA. So basically these actors should be happy with any check they are getting because if NBC canceled the show they would get nothing.

NBC picks up Law & Order, gives USA Criminal Intent |

The question of what will happen with the Law & Orders has finally been answered according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC has picked up Law & Order for a 18th season, but have given USA Law & Order: Criminal Intent for it's 7th season. Strangely, Criminal Intent will air on USA first and then encore on NBC, what exactly that means I am not sure. This is what Jeff Zucker had to say about the move, "With this innovative programming move, we have significantly strengthened the already powerful USA network, given NBC maximum flexibility, and in the process have changed the paradigm of prime time television. In the end, it is all about our viewers. And this will allow our viewers continuing access to the finest programming across the premier networks of NBC Universal." Still doesn't makes sense to me, but there is not a whole lot of what Jeff Zucker does that does make sense to me.
I just hope this move does not mess with the future of any of my shows on USA like The Dead Zone, Monk, Psych and 4400.
BTW NBC announces it's fall schedule tomorrow.

Vincent D’Onofrio leaving Law & Order: CI? |

So the Herald Sun in Australia has an interview with Vincent D'Onofrio and he says he will not be on the show for very much longer because he wants to direct and does not like being a star. Maybe this is old news, but I don't watch the show, so it is new to me. All I know about D'Onofrio are the rumors that I have read in the papers. So it will be interesting to see what type of director he will be? This is what he had to say about his departure, "I'm at the age where I'm having a pretty good time in life and I want to do some directing now, stay away from acting just a little while," D'Onofrio explains. "I haven't sorted the actual departure date out yet, but I won't be there ( Criminal Intent) much longer. You see, I've never seen myself as a leading man. I want to be a character actor. I don't care if a script is for a five-minute role or a major role, I want to approach things simply. If I like the role, I'll play it."
UPDATE: Michael Ausiello published this quote from his rep, "I am not leaving Law & Order: Criminal Intent and have every intention of fulfilling my contractual obligations on the show. I still find playing the role of Robert Goren interesting and enjoy working with the writers, cast and crew of Criminal Intent." Ausiello also added that he doubts CI will be picked up for another season. Personally I think he just spoke too early and NBC doesn't want to ruin the May sweeps cliffhanger where his character is shot and killed?

"Flags of Our Fathers" thesp Adam Beach is joining the cast of "Law & Order: SVU." Beach, who had a guest turn as Brooklyn detective Chester Lake on an episode of the skein that aired Tuesday, is in final talks to become a series regular. He’s expected to return later this season. "SVU" creator Dick Wolf first worked with Beach on "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," the HBO telepic Wolf produced. Beach has the lead role in the project, which is expected to debut in May and is already being considered one of the paybox’s key longform Emmy contenders.

Sounds like they are preparing for a change, don’t you think?

Is Law & Order ripping Andrienne Shelly’s murder from the headlines? |
January 12th, 2007 under Dick Wolf, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Here’s one real-life tragedy that did not need to be "ripped from the headlines." The story of slain actress Adrienne Shelly – an independent film star who once appeared as a guest star on an episode of "Law & Order" in 2000 – will be fictionalized in an upcoming, sources said yesterday. Shelly was beaten to death and hanged from a shower rod in her Greenwich Village apartment last Nov. 1, allegedly by an illegal-immigrant construction worker with whom she had argued. Now the NBC drama has put out a casting announcement seeking a Hispanic man to play a murderer who kills a woman after a dispute. The casting notice calls for a male Hispanic between the ages of 19 to 24 to play an illegal immigrant named José Contreras who argues with a Manhattan woman named Erin Garrett. She falls, hits her head and is knocked unconscious. Thinking he may have killed her, Contreras tries to cover up the incident by making it look like the woman hanged herself – and actually murders her in the process. Given the drama’s rapid-fire production schedule, the episode, called "The Melting Pot," could hit the air as early as next month. The actor would play a character modeled after Diego Pillco, an Ecuadorean national who had been doing work inside an apartment below Shelly’s at 15 Abingdon Square. In real life, Pillco is accused of having killed Shelly, 40, moments after a heated argument over noise and after she had called him a "son of a bitch." Police said he confessed to killing Shelly and making it appear as if she had hanged herself in her bathroom. NBC officials defended the show as fiction, and declined to offer more details. Shelly’s last film, "Waitress," is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month.

I wonder when SVU is going to do the episode about the singer who gets photographed without underwear and they are called in to investigate her rape.
