Denise Richards is insisting she hooked up with her ex-best friend’s hubby only after Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear had split. She also claims she and Locklear weren’t buddies either. “Unfortunately, my friendship with Heather had ended,” Richards told Bazaar. “I hadn’t spoken to her in a few months. The relationship was not salvageable. Richie and I ran into each other at a restaurant and started talking. If I was still friends with Heather, I wouldn’t have crossed that line. With everything going on in my life, I wasn’t looking to fall in love with anyone. But at the same time, when Richie and I got together, I couldn’t pass it up. I know how hard it is to meet a great guy.”

The acrimonious divorce battle between Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards is over – for now, according to a joint statement by their lawyers. "Both parties have amicably resolved any outstanding issues on an interim basis," Sheen’s attorney, Lance Spiegel, said Monday outside a Los Angeles courthouse with Richards’s lawyer, Neal Hersh, by his side. However, the divorce has not been finalized. Sheen, 40, and Richards, 35, were not present at the brief hearing, which took place in judge’s quarters. Attorneys for both declined to comment on questions regarding whether a restraining order against Sheen would be extended or what the custody arrangements would be for the couple’s daughters Sam, 2, and Lola, 1. In an order of protection that expired today, Sheen was required to stay at least 300 yards from Richards and their daughters, except for supervised visits with the children. Sheen and Richards wed in June 2002; Richards filed for divorce in March 2005 while pregnant with Lola.

Sheen retains his right to one supervised visit per week with the children.The extension came in lieu of a custody hearing originally scheduled to take place this week to determine which custody arrangement would best for two-year-old Sam and one-year-old Lola.Sheen has requested joint custody of the girls, while Richards, who filed a lengthy declaration in April alleging her husband was verbally and physically abusive, and has been hooked on prescription drugs, pornography and gambling, sought sole custody.Sheen denied the claims in a declaration of his own, calling them "false allegations" and accusing his wife of engaging in a "smear campaign."Thursday’s hearing has been postponed until Sept. 12,at which point Richards and Sheen are expected to come face to face. Up until now, the actors’ lawyers have been duking it out in court on behalf of their clients."I can’t say for sure, but there’s a strong likelihood," Richards’ lawyer, Neal R. Hersh, told City News Service of the possibility of the boldfaced names appearing in court this fall.In the meantime, the extended restraining order will be kept in effect for just a month longer, until Aug. 14.

Two things! If I were Denise, I would go to the Emmys just so Charlie would not be able to attend. And September 12th is going to be a scorcher in LA if those two are in court together.

Former BOND girl DENISE RICHARDS has sold the Westlake Village, California, home she shared with estranged husband CHARLIE SHEEN for $4.1 million (GBP2.3 million), according to US reports. The actress put the house on the market last month (JUN06) and has made a quick sale as she looks to move on with her life as she battles Sheen over custody of their daughters. An insider tells American magazine Life + Style Richards closed the deal on the house she bought last year (05) at the weekend (09JUL06) and told him, "I’m so relieved just to get the whole Westlake thing over with." The home was a constant reminder of bad times for Richards – it’s close to former pal HEATHER LOCKLEAR’s house. Richards is currently dating Locklear’s estranged husband RICHIE SAMBORA
