Hundreds walk out of a Robbie Williams’ show down under?
December 20th, 2006 under Concerts/Tours. [ Comments: none ]

Photorazzi Robbie Williams has reportedly disappointed fans on the Australian leg of his world tour. According to the Daily Mirror, hundreds of fans left the ‘Millennium’ singer’s concert at Melbourne before the end, with the show later receiving unflattering reviews. The paper quotes one concert-goer as commenting: "He failed to deliver or even resemble the energy and vibrance of past visits. He should hold true to his promise to retire." The event was staged at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome with a crowd of 64,000. Last week, Williams was given a fine for smoking on stage in Australia.

Wow, he must’ve been really bad. But to compare him to him past shows he has done, I think is sad. If you are a fan, you are fan! I mean how many times have you gone to your favorite artist and they only play new stuff or slow it down, do you walk out? You just don’t see them again!

Cher and Bette Midler taking over for Celine in Vegas?
November 30th, 2006 under Bette Midler, Céline Dion, Cher, Concerts/Tours. [ Comments: none ]

All the pieces of the post-Celine Dion era at Caesars Palace are falling into place: Cher’s deal is done, and Bette is set. Cher will move into the 4,000-seat Colosseum in the spring of 2008, and Bette Midler will follow in the fall, I hear. Dion ends her 41/2-year run, an unequaled local success, in December 2007. Depending on which reports you believe, she either plans to launch a two-year world tour or will try to have a second child through in vitro fertilization.

How cool would it be if the two of them did it together?

Lil’ Wayne in trouble for throwing money into the audience
October 21st, 2006 under Concerts/Tours. [ Comments: none ]

Lil’ Wayne has been barred from performing at Morgan State University and may face criminal charges, after a homecoming concert went awry when the rapper’s entourage threw money into the crowd. The sold-out concert took place at Hill Field House during the university’s homecoming concert on Thursday (Oct. 19), which also featured Busta Rhymes. During Lil’ Wayne’s performance, members of his entourage tossed $20, $10, $5 and $1 bills into the crowd of mostly college students. In the rush to retrieve the cash, two women sustained leg injuries and another woman fainted. All were treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital. "We’re evaluating it from a public safety standpoint and a criminal standpoint," Morgan State University Police Chief Adrian Wiggins told the Baltimore Sun. Morgan State University Spokesman Clinton R. Coleman compared the rapper’s actions to "standing in a crowded movie theater and shouting fire." "It is something we regret that he did," Coleman said. "We regret the injuries that were caused. And we’re happy that most of the people in the crowd acted responsibly."

Genesis to do a reunion tour?
October 18th, 2006 under Concerts/Tours. [ Comments: none ]

Rock veterans Genesis are to reform, 10 years after frontman Phil Collins left. Collins, 55, with guitarist Mike Rutherford, 56, and keyboardist Tony Banks, 56, have agreed to take part in a major tour. Genesis sold over 130 million albums during the ’70s and ’80s, despite losing singer Peter Gabriel in 1975. A spokesman said specific details of the tour and "long term plans" including possible new material would be announced in the next few weeks. The group was formed by Rutherford, Banks and Gabriel at Charterhouse public school in the 1960s. Collins joined as drummer in 1970 and initially the band enjoyed cult success. They only hit the commercial big time with hits like I Can’t Dance, Mama and Invisible Touch after Gabriel left.

BBC

I put a question mark because this reunion has been rumored for years and nothing so far has come of it.
