Yesterday Charlie Sheen was in Aspen, Co ready to work out a plea agreement where reportedly he would serve 30 nights in jail and 30 days of a work release at a local theater from the incident that happened there in December, but the judge rejected it. She then scheduled another hearing for July 12th and that could put Two and a Half Men’s production start date in jeopardy. According THR Buzz production is set to begin the first week in August and if he were to serve the full 30 days in jail that would mean he would be at least two weeks late to work. So right now the #1 comedy on television is being detained by TV’s highest paid actor and there is nothing anyone but the judge in Aspen can do about it.
Gotta love Charlie Sheen first he keeps Warner Bros and CBS in limbo trying to iron out a deal to stay with a show, then they pay him sh!tloads of money and now he is keeping them guessing when they show will go back into production because of his private life. If I were CBS and Warner Bros, I would fine him the full cost of production for everyday they are forced to miss because of his personal life. I really hope they made him sign a morals clause on his new contract, it seems like a given with him.
Even though there were rumors that Charlie Sheen was leaving the #1 comedy on TV, he reached a last minute deal with Warner Bros to stay on the CBS show for another 2 years. His people released this statement to Entertainment Weekly, “To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights. I want to thank Les Moonves for his support.â€
No word how much he is getting, partly because they don’t release that info and partly because it would depress you. According to TMZ he was asking for $2 million an episode, which is around $45 million for the season. While he might not have gotten that, he got something close to that according to what TMZ is hearing. I am sorry, but I don’t think he is worth it. I was actually looking forward to a 2.5 Men without him because they made his so lame this season pairing him up with Chelsea. If they get rid of Chelsea, I might like Charlie Harper more…but I still don’t think Sheen is worth that much. If you think about it, he isn’t the one from the show who won an Emmy for his part on the show and I doubt Jon Cryer is getting half of what Sheen is getting now.
Hey Chuck Lorre why don’t you work on a spinoff with Berta and Evelyn, so in two years you won’t care how much money Sheen is asking for.
BTW just think Brooke Mueller could get half of his salary since he signed before she filed for divorce…if she winds up filing.
Tonight at 9:30p on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory Sheldon’s #1 arch nemesis Wil Wheaton returns and we will see if Sheldon can finally one up Wil Wheaton making it Wheaton 2 Cooper 1 or will it be Wheaton 3 Cooper 0? What ever the score is we the viewers will be the ultimate winner because if this episode is even half as good as the last time Wheaton was on, it is going to be hysterically brilliant.
About a year ago there were rumors that Charlie Sheen would not be renewing his contract for Two and a Half Men when it was up at the end of this season. Well now TV Watch is confirming that he has opted not to stick with the show that he has been with for the last 7 years. A set source told TV Watch “Charlie’s just done. And he’s quietly telling his friends he’s not coming back.†It is Charlie’s decision to leave the show, and it will be interesting to see if the show will go on without him. I think it could go on without him if they gave bigger parts to Conchata Ferrell and Holland Taylor. But how Conchata could stay on as the maid without Charlie’s money, I am not sure how but hey that is up to Chuck Lorre and the writers.
It will be really interesting to see what CBS will do because Two and a Half Men is the #1 rated sitcom on TV and I am sure they don’t want to give it up. Afterall it was Jon Cryer not Charlie Sheen who brought an Emmy home from the show.
Do you think the show can go on without him? And do you think Charlie Sheen is making a mistake? I think he is because who is going to want him and all of the baggage that comes with him? Granted no matter how much sh!t is said about him, for some reason he always comes out smelling like roses?
UPDATE: Here is my idea for how the show can go on without Charlie Sheen. Charlie and Chelsea get married and on the way to their honeymoon their plane goes missing and they are presumed dead. So Alan inherits all the money and gets to keep the house and Berta. Judith gets a divorce from Herb and he winds up moving in Alan, so we still have the Two in the Two and a Half Men. Alan and Herb become to wild and crazy guys as Alan adjusts to finally having some money in his life and his mom makes sure he doesn’t marry another floozy who will take half of what he has. If Sheen decides to return the door will be open for him because the wind up is he has been on an Island this whole time.
Someone else had another idea that Martin Sheen replace his son, so you can Golden Two and a Half Men and have Judd Hirsch replace Jon Cryer because they kind of look a like. And you can bring on Betty White to play one of their Cougars?
What are your ideas to keep 2.5 going without Charlie Sheen?
I mean the show could live without him, afterall who though Spin City could survive without Michael J Fox and it did OK when Sheen replaced him???
Charlie Sheen is in rehab and is taking a break from Two and a Half Men to do so according to press release from his publicist Stan Rosenfield, “As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility. He will take some time off his series Two And A Half Men. He has asked that his privacy be honored. No further statements are planned.”
According to TMZ even though Charlie’s wife Brooke is also in rehab, the two are not at the same one. TMZ says that their twins boys are with Brooke in rehab and her staff of nannies is helping her out. Now how a mother, who is trying to get better, has her kids with her is beyond me. To me rehab is not a place for children especially for babies as young as Max and Bob.
Now when it comes to Two and a Half Men, TMZ says that Charlie did not notify them he was entering rehab and it wasn’t until they checked to find out why he didn’t show up to work that they found out. So obviously the #1 comedy on TV is in flux. According to Nikki Finke, 18 of the 23 episodes for the season have been shot which is the same amount that another CBS sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose had ordered for their season. Too bad Jenna Elfman is about to give birth otherwise they could’ve extended that order to fill the slot vacated by Sheen’s show. Although 2.5 does well in repeats so maybe they will air repeats until May sweeps.
When it comes to 2.5, I wouldn’t mind a few episodes that are Charlieless and to fill the void they have more scenes with Charlie and Alan’s mom Evelyn Harper and Berta. They do not use Holland Taylor and Conchata Ferrell enough on the show. I am also not liking this season’s storyline with Charlie and his fiancee’, the actress doesn’t do anything for me and Charlie needs to be a playboy and not tied down.
UPDATE: TMZ says that Charlie will be in rehab for two weeks and production will restart on the show when he is out. They added he did let people involved with the show that he was voluntarily checking himself into rehab, so they were aware that he would be taking the time off.
Also TMZ now says that their twins, Max and Bob are staying at the family home and the couple’s moms will be checking in on them while Charlie and Brooke are in rehab.
