Disjointed gives us an anthem for 4/20!
January 10th, 2018 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

In two days, Disjointed will be back on Netflix for its second season and they gave us a musical number to commemorate the occasion. A song and dance number so amazing, you will be singing it from now until 4/20. Then on the best day of the year, you will be singing it again until the next best day of the year.

Now let’s get serious for a moment, how high do you think they were when they came with this music video? My thought is very very very high! And in California, there is nothing wrong with that since January 1st. Just don’t smoke and drive!

CBS announced today that Young Sheldon is doing so well, it will be back for a second season. Is the news a surprise? Of course, you don’t have to be a genius like to Sheldon to know that is not only the #1 new show of the season, it is in top 3 of scripted shows. Not bad for a comedy about a loving American family. Strange concept that that concept still does well.

Melissa Rauch had her big bang baby!
December 4th, 2017 under Babies, Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

In case you did not know, Melissa Rauch is not only pregnant on The Big Bang Theory, she was pregnant in real life too. I used the past for the latter because today she announced the birth of her first child on Instagram. She said, “I am beyond over the moon to share that our beautiful baby girl, Sadie Rauch, has arrived and our hearts are bursting at the seams with love for her. I will never take for granted the difficult road it took to get here. To those on that road: I’m sending you so much love today and always. 💕💕💕💕💕💕”

The actress was very vocal that she suffered fertility issues and miscarriage before giving birth to Sadie. Now that she is mom, my words of advice to her is enjoy every second.

Young Sheldon finds love, There’s Johnny is as lovable as Johnny Carson

Tonight at 8:30p on CBS, Young Sheldon falls in love with something that he didn’t know he loved.

The episode starts off with Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) choking on a piece of sausage and nearly dying because of it, and because of that he is afraid to eat solid food. After a few weeks, his mom (Zoe Perry) and dad (Lance Barber) decide he needs to go therapy. While his parents are talking to therapist, he has to wait in the waiting room. He picks up a comic book, something he thought was stupid, and is immediately hooked. So much so, he walks out of the office to find more, and his parents don’t know where he is gone. Where did he go? How will his parents react? You just have to tune in to find out.

That and to see the toll Sheldon’s quirkiness causes for his older brother (Montana Jordan) and twin sister (Raegan Revord). Thankfully, they have Meemaw (Annie Potts) to talk to about it.

This show has proven to be a sweet comedy that CBS has so desperately needed since they cancelled Still Standing. I still miss that show.

Over at Hulu is There’s Johnny. This is the story of 19-year-old Andy Klavin (Ian Nelson) who lives in Nebraska with his parents who are big fans of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. He decides to do something special for them and writes a letter to the talk show host asking for an autograph photo and a job.

Then the strangest thing happens, he gets both in the mail. Therefore, he gets on bus and travels to Burbank, Ca. When he gets there, he finds out the show doesn’t actually tape at 11:30p when he arrives at the gate. In his hand he is holding the letter he got from the show, and by some chance of fate the wind blows it into the show’s soundstage. He goes inside and falls asleep.

The next day, he is woken up by Roz (T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh) who tells him the job was all a big misunderstanding and they will pay for his bus ticket back to corn country. Thankfully Joy Greenfield (Jane Levy) walks in at that exact moment and tells Roz she needs a runner. The feisty 24-year-old, whose dad is a big agent, takes him under wing. While introducing him around, he meets the writers who ask him a question that makes it on to the show. Freddie the Executive Producer (Tony Danza) sees something special in the kid, and offers him a real job this time.

From that moment on, luck keeps on working out for this wholesome kid. Joy finds him an apartment and a car. Even when it seems like he is screwed, his niceness seems to save him from the worst predicaments. It is those screw ups that make this sweet kid find a way into your heart instantly. Same for everyone around him.

There’s Johnny takes place in 1972 and they use file footage from the original talk show. On the premiere episode, we see Johnny interview the late great George Carlin and in episode 2 he chats with a young Albert Brooks. Not only that, you see Johnny save Ed McMahon’s butt when a segment goes wrong. They intertwine the current filming with the file footage so smoothly, you almost think they are actually happening at the same time and not 45 years apart.

If you love late night television, you will adore seeing the behind the scenes madness. If you are not a fan of the genre, you will enjoy a show where the little guy keeps on winning. It is the feel good retro show about comedy you have been longing for and did not know it. It is worth subscribing to Hulu just for There’s Johnny. A show I read that EP Paul Reiser says cancelled the network SeeSo where it was originally set to air before Hulu thankfully saved it.

You can binge watch the whole first season on Hulu now.

We get to meet Young Sheldon’s Meemaw tonight
November 9th, 2017 under Chuck Lorre. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcM9AHGBfNE
Tonight at 8:30p on CBS, it is time to meet Young Sheldon’s beloved Meemaw and she is played by the lovable Annie Potts. The episode starts off with Meemaw, who is babysitting her three grandchildren, playing poker with her youngest grandson. She teaches him an important lesson about bluffing in poker. A technique that will come in very helpful later in the episode.

Shortly afterwards, The Coopers are home and George (Lance Barber) experiences chest pains, so Mary (Zoe Perry) rushes him to the hospital leaving her younger kids in the care of her mother. While Meemaw tries to tell them everything is OK, Mary is not as sure as her mother. Since Sheldon and his sister (Raegan Revord) are 9, they believe their Meemaw. George Jr (Montana Jordan), who is a teenager, does not and wants to go see his dad. Therefore, when Meemaw falls asleep, George Jr takes her keys to the car and drives his siblings to the hospital. Did I mention he is only 14 and does not know how to drive?

What happens next is why this show is this season’s #1 comedy. The casting is perfect, the acting is sweet and the writing is endearing, all of that makes you want to tune in every week to see the Coopers be the loving family that they are.
