Tonight at 10p Golden Boy debuts on CBS and you don’t want to miss this police procedural with a twist.
At 34, Walter William Clark Jr. (Theo James) is the youngest man ever to become the NYC Police Commissioner and we will see the path he took to get there in flashbacks. When he was on the beat for 3 years, he was just doing his job and something happened that changed his life. He saved his partner who was shot during a shootout and it was all caught on video. Overnight he has become a local hero and thus has his choice for almost any job on the force. He chooses to be a homicide detective and since he is only 26 that is not going to go over well with the other detectives. His partner Detective Don Owen (Chi McBride) is just years from retiring and he doesn’t want to work with this little cocky brat who he doesn’t think is qualified for the job. Clark thinks he knows it all and Owen will prove to him that he doesn’t. Even though Owen is tough on him, they both learn things from each other while they are working cases. It is their bond that will help get him his future job. Plus we will also learn that Clark’s past is what shaped him into being the man that he is now.
In each episode, we will see Clark answer questions in the future about how got to that position. The future and the past blend perfectly on this show, something show creator Greg Berlanti has perfected with Jack & Bobby and Arrow.
James is convincing as a NYC cop/commissioner and McBride makes any show watchable. I think this is his best work since Boston Public and he was beyond brilliant on that show.
After only being on the air for two weeks, CBS has decided to pull The Job from it’s lineup effective immediately. According to The Futon Critic the Mark Burnett competition show where people competed for a job will be replaced by Undercover Boss.
Personally I think the viewers made a mistake by not watching this show because it was so much more than people competing for a job, they also gave great tips on how to apply for a job and master the interview throughout each episode. I hope that CBS finds a place for this show to air its remaining episodes because it was really educational television viewing. How many shows can you say that about?
In the past CBS Cares has done Holiday PSAs for prostate exams, pap smears, getting tested for testicular cancer and getting a colonoscopy done. Well this year for Valentine’s Day they want the elderly to put on a condom before they have sex. You see because senior citizens think that they can’t get pregnant, they believe they don’t need protection; but condoms protect against more than just an unwanted pregnancy. Rubbers also prevent STDs and AIDS, and that is something that is on the rise in that age group, like Viagra makes their you know what rise! In fact I tell my dad and his friends to put a condom on to protect themselves, but I do that as a one-on-one conversation and not as a PSA on the #1 network on TV. It is just so weird to hear these PSAs while I am watching one of their shows.
On a positive note at least this ad with Joan Rivers and Alan Kalter was just a voiceover one because there is no way in hell I would want to see them act it out. Would you?
The Job debuts on CBS tonight at 8p and it is a must watch. Whether you are applying for work now or plan to at anytime in the future, then you have to watch this show. Each week several people will apply for a job at leading company on the show and only person will get it. The panelists will go over their resumes and then have them do tasks related to job, so the people hiring them could decide who is the best candidate. Once they are done with the challenge they will be given one more test to see who is the most worthy for the position.
While The Job is a reality show, it is also a great lesson for anyone who is applying for a position. You will get tips about what you should and should not do during a job interview. There are a lot of wrongs that many of us make in the job hunting process and this show teaches us not to do them again.
Who knew reality television could be so educational and practical? So if you need a new job or will be looking for one, then you really need to watch this show every week. I know I will be!
Now if you are like me, then you don’t need a reason to watch Hawaii Five-0 on CBS every Monday at 10p because you are already watching. But if you are not, then show creator Peter Lenkov Tweeted some sexy pictures from this week’s episode that will get newbies to strip whatever they were planning on watching and tune in.
Seriously how hot is that guy playing a stripper? He might be an extra now, but on Tuesday I am sure the offers will be coming in like dollar bills were coming in to his leather pants.
BTW I have no idea what the episode is about, but let’s be real does it matter?
