CBS pulls Stalker and The McCarthys for CSI: Cyber and The Odd Couple
December 5th, 2014 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

CBS has finally scheduled all of their new shows, but they sacrificed some of their other new shows to do.
On February 19th, Two and a Half Men ends it successful run with a one hour series finale at 9p and The Odd Couple makes it debut at 8:30p. Then the following week CBS’s new Thursday lineup starts with The Big Bang Theory followed by Matthew Perry playing Oscar Madison followed by a TBBT repeat and finally conclude the comedy part of the evening with the unfunny Mom. So in other words, they cancelled The Millers and The McCarthys (not officially cancelled) for a repeat of TBBT. I don’t get that but then again, I liked the comedies with the families that last names start with a M.
Those are the comedy changes, there are also some drama changes coming too. On March 1st, Battle Creek takes over for CSI who had their episode order cut. Then on Match 4th, Stalker will be replaced by CSI: Cyber. I was honestly surprised that CBS ordered more episodes from Stalker and sounds like they realized their mistake.
It will be interesting to see how these three new shows do. I am looking forward to The Odd Couple because I really like Matthew Perry and I’m a little weirded out how much Thomas Lennon reminds me of Tony Randall. I think the casting is great and hopefully the episodes will be too. Hopefully, it will do well because it will be nice for one of their new sitcoms make it to a second season.

Tonight at 8p on Fox’s Gotham someone is after Cat and Bruce Wayne takes off with her. Now the two of them are on the run. Alfred will do anything to get his master back, even team up with Harvey Bullock. You will get to see how bada$$ Alfred truly is and the start of our little boy becoming a Batman.
Penguin tells Falcone that there is a leak in his organization and he will do anything to find who it is?
And by the end of the episode someone will be fired from their job. Think you know who?

Then at 9p but on The CW Jane the Virgin spends the night with Rafael. Her mother spends the night with her father, but they are on a double date with other people.
Meanwhile, Jane finds out that her day job as a teacher is using her immaculate conception for their own needs. How will she feel when she finds out?
Then, like Gotham, someone will be fired by the end of the episode. Who will get the ax? And did I mention there is a shocking kiss in this episode? Whose lips will lock???

Lastly at 9p over at CBS the Scorpion team are sent to Bosnia to recover its stealth technology from a downed US airplane before the wrong people get their hands on it. This is their toughest assignment yet because they are being shot at in a country that is unfamiliar to them. To make matters worse, half the team gets separated from them. Will they make it out alive? You just have to tune in to find out.

CBS suprisingly cancels The Millers

The Millers finally got some much needed press, but sadly it was the news that CBS shockingly cancelled the sitcom. Although ratings haven’t been stellar for the funny show, I don’t think they warranted the show’s cancellation.
I loved this show, and I found that it made me laugh harder than the other CBS comedies. So I am going to miss it.
I don’t get why it didn’t catch on and the depressing Mom has. I guess people prefer to be depressed when they watch a comedy instead of happy. Which is sad.

The McCarthys creator might love Good Wife more than his show?
November 13th, 2014 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9:30p on CBS’s The McCarthys Ronnie (Tyler Ritter) tells his mom (Laurie Metcalf) that he can’t watch The Good Wife with her because he needs to go over basketball plays with his dad (Jack McGee). Let’s just say, she doesn’t take to him skipping out her too well and the rest of the family suffers because of it. Their suffering is our reward just like this sitcom about a typical Boston family.
The Good Wife has been an intricate part of the show, just like basketball, so does the show’s creator, Brian Gallivan, love the legal drama as much as the character he created about himself does? He told me on a conference call, “I’m obsessed with it, and my mother is too.” Sadly because they are on different coasts and timezones, they don’t get to watch as he puts it, “It’s my favorite show on television, maybe even above the McCarthys.” At that point Tyler Ritter, who plays him, was not that happy about his boss’ confession and you can’t blame him. Although he quickly got over it and understood why he feels that way. You know, since in a way he needs to get in to Brian’s brain in order to do his job, so he knows what he is thinking.
As I mentioned the show is based on Gallivan’s family, but how much of it is like his real family. He said, “It is based on my life, it’s loosely inspired by my family. They require me to say that. Jokingly, I think, I don’t know. It can be tough. And you know, a lot of the basics are true.” So what are those basics? He explained, “I’m sort of the one gay son, I actually have more siblings, I have three brothers and two sisters in real life, so the characters are sort of a mixture of qualities and quirks from my real siblings scattered about. And my dad was a very successful high school basketball coach in Boston, and three of my siblings coach basketball, and I didn’t.”
How do they feel about the show now that it is airing their third episode tonight? He shared with us, “They love it. They’re so excited and they’re, they love Tyler, they think he’s great and they love everybody.” Then he concluded their reaction by saying, “So they’re having a blast. And of course, making it somehow connected to basketball even when it doesn’t.”
And here’s a basketball reference from me, The McCarthy’s a slam dunk. So make sure to watch it tonight and every Thursday at 9:30p on CBS.

The McCarthys is wicked good!
October 30th, 2014 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

The McCarthys debuts on CBS tonight at 9:30p and this sitcom hits it out of Fenway Park!
The McCarthys are your typical Boston family, they all live within a block from each other, they love their sports teams and they only eat Dunkin’ Donuts. I also assume that they are New Kids on the Block fans, but that is another story.
Marjorie (Laurie Metcalf) is the matriarch of the family and she has her favorite kid. That honor goes to her youngest son, Ronny (Tyler Ritter), and he wants out of Boston so he can find love. That is something his mother does not want because she wants her favorite to stay near her, even if that means he won’t be able to find a boyfriend.
Ronny has two older brothers, Gerard (Joey McIntyre) and Sean (Jimmy Dunn), and they are fraternal twins. Even though they look nothing alike, they both want one thing and that is their dad Arthur’s (Jack McGee) admiration.
Finally, there is Jackie (Kelen Coleman) and she is her mom’s least favorite kid even though she is the only girl of the bunch. Will her mom start to like her more, now that she is pregnant?
When I watched the pilot for the first time, I hated this show. But then I watched it again a few weeks later and I couldn’t stop laughing. So what I am saying is give this show a chance. If you don’t like the first time, then watch it again to get all the subtle jokes. There are a lot of them from the beginning until the end of the pilot and because of that it has the right stuff.
BTW I should caution you that after you watch the show, you will start talking like a Bostonian. As a NYer, that is a bad thing for me; but like I said I love this show so it is OK!
