Was working with a bear too much for James Wolk to bear on Zoo?
August 4th, 2015 under CBS, James Wolk. [ Comments: none ]

James Wolk has worked with real live lions and tigers on CBS’s Zoo and tonight at 9p he works with with his hardest animal yet.
When I recently asked him at the CBS Studios Summer Press Day which animal he was scared to work with most, without hesitation he told me, “The bear, an 800 pound brown Kodiak bear.“ He explained, “We were about three inches away from a brown 800 pound Kodiak bear. So even with precautions, even with the trainers and the safety and all of that, it is still a bear. You still have that feeling of your heart beating and your palms sweating and rightfully so.” If you are that close to bear, you can smell it. He described the odor as, “They have a very particular smell. It is a smell that I have never smelled before because I have never been that close to a bear before. But it is a very specific.”
So if you are going to work that closely with live animals, what warning is given to the actors by the trainers? He revealed that they each had their different mandates, “For bears, it was don’t look them in the eye. For horses, it is like get close to them, get comfortable with them, so that they are comfortable with you.” Then he added, “I feel fortunate because I wouldn’t be that close to this animals in real life if it wasn’t for the show.”
Tune in tonight to watch him and the other actors work with a real live bear and see if you can notice the terror in their eyes.

Can Criminal Minds’ Matthew Gray Gubler beat the cinnamon challenge?
July 24th, 2015 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Matthew Gray Gubler deciced to try to the spoonful of cinnamon challenge and is his criminal mind strong enough to survive it? Even after he offered to give his doubting family members a $100 if he couldn’t do it. Let’s go to the videotape. The answer is of course…no!
Hopefully the producers of Criminal Minds will see this and add this to his storyline. I mean, why couldn’t the good doctor down a spoonful of cinnamon? Right. I guess we have to start tuning in to CBS starting on September 30th to see if they take my suggestion.

Jeff Probst is an ugly crier
July 23rd, 2015 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

If you thought that Claire Danes is the ugliest crier on television, you would be wrong. Jon Cryer shared a photo of Jeff Probst outside of the bookstore where he was singing his autobiography, and the Survivor host was crying because of the Two and a Half Man’s star’s last name. And what an ugly cry it is. If Homeland is looking for someone to make Danes look better when she balls, then they need to cast Probst for the role.
Can you think of anyone who is an ugly crier?

Six things you want to know about CBS’s Zoo!
July 7th, 2015 under CBS, James Wolk. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUm4jsoB67I
Last week Zoo held people captive, like an animal at a zoo; and tonight at 9p on CBS it will do the same. People are intrigued by the show’s notion that one day the animals will take back what is rightfully theirs.
Now you know the premise of this summer thriller, what are things you don’t know about the show that will make watching it so much more interesting. A few weeks ago cast members James Wolk, Nonso Anozie and Nora Arnezeder plus Executive Producers Cathy Konrad, Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg and the author James Patterson shared some behind the scenes secrets from the show at the CBS Studios Summer Press Day.

Did they always intend on turning James Patterson’s words into a television show?
Cathy Konrad said, “We were concocting it initially as a feature film and thinking about it on kind of a different level which was actually scale it kind of make a more kind of contained thriller, like a Cloverfield or a District 9.” Then she added, “But as we kind of got under the scenes and read between the lines of the book and we kept kind of challenging the material in our creative meetings, it became clear that there was such a bigger world to explore with this and that kind of teching it down wouldn’t really do it justice.”

Did they use real animals or are they computer generated?
James Wolk told us, “All the animals that we’ve had down on set, and it’s been tons of animals, because it should also be said there hasn’t been a ton of CGI. There’s been a lot of real animals on set.” Then he explained, “They all come with trainers. They’re all incredibly well-trained as far as wild animals go. They can’t talk, but they’re well-trained animals and all the proper precautions are taken.”

But are there problems with working with animals as compared to humans?
Nora Arnezeder revealed, “Sometimes they fall asleep in the middle of the scene and we really need them, so we have to wait 30 minutes for them to wake up.”

What type of animals will we see on the show?
According to Wolk we will see lions, bears, wolves and rats. Remember they all are real and they are not made on the computer.

Where will Zoo be traveling to?
James Pinker says, “This show travels to Tokyo and to Rio and to Mobile, Alabama and Antarctica and Paris. It truly is a global thriller and the story spans the globe and their characters travel around the world.”

And this is this most shocking reveal?
Even though the show will be spanning the world, it is filmed entirely in New Orleans. So when you watch Zoo, be prepared to be amazed that Wolk, Arnezeder and Anozie are on US soil and not in Africa like the show says they are. I still can’t believe how amazingly The Big Easy easily substitutes for the rest of the world.

Extant is back and sexier than last season!
July 1st, 2015 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

Extant is back for its second season tonight at 9p on CBS and it is a lot different than it was last year. Last season, it was more of a futuristic Sci-Fi show that you had to be into that genre to like. It was very sophisticated type of Sci-Fi drama that focused on the future, aliens and robots. This season seems more fast-paced and definitely sexier. In fact, Elizabeth Kruger, who joined the show this year as an Executive Producer, said, “There’s action, there’s romance, there’s heat, sex. I don’t know if any of you like sex, but there will be sex.” She isn’t kidding because the show starts out with Molly Woods (Halle Berry) and John (Goran Visnjic) having hot shower sex.
The show picks up six months after the season finale, a lot has happened to Molly, and it has changed her. As we know her robot son, Ethan (Pierce Gagnon) sacrificed himself to save the world. Her half-alien son escaped and no one knows where he is.
Suddenly, women are dying and their stomachs look like they have exploded open. Police are perplexed and Molly thinks there might be connection. JD Richter (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) an unorthodox police officer thinks there is something strange going on here too. Molly and him meet up, and now the two of them are investigating the cases. What are they going to find out?
This season of Extant is much lighter. I think it keeps enough of the old feel for the original fans, but adds a new sense of vivacity to attract newer viewers.
So tune into tonight at every Wednesday on CBS.
