Cougar Town is one of the funniest shows on TV that the network made the mistake of ignoring. But that is a whole other story that will be resolved on Valentine’s Day at 8:30p on ABC.
So how does this show get to be such a laugh out loud riot? Well it looks like they take pictures of each other at the urinal and post it on Twitter. For example here is EP Kevin Biegel snapping a picture of Sam Laybourne relieving himself that they are done writing the third season of the sitcom. So if this what they do when they are not working on the scripts, imagine the crap they come up with when they actually work it? Please tune in to ABC on February 14th to see what they geniuses do with the paper they don’t use to wipe their butts.
After of months of waiting for an air date, Cougar Town finally has one. ABC announced today that Cougar Town will return for its third season on Tuesday, February 14th at 8:30p replacing the cancelled shows Man Up and Work It.
Last week I attended one of the Cougar Town parties and Courteney Cox, Christa Miller and Executive Producer Kevin Biegel all told me that it is their best season yet, so tell everyone and their brother and sister to watch this show that’s title does not match what it is about. It is about a group of friends who get together, drink, play games that will instantly become yours to play with your friends, make fun of each other and drink. Did I mention that they drink? And it is definitely not about a woman who dates younger men. Seriously whether you have seen the first two seasons or this will be your first make sure to watch it because I promise you will love it as much as you love a good glass of wine.
UPDATE: The cast and crew are responding to the news:
EP Bill Lawrence Tweeted, “Cougar Town is back. Valentine’s day. Big show changing episode. Stay in, watch, and I’ll send you a bottle of wine.” He later added, “Serious about wine. Trying to obtain a wine sponsor to send out free vino to whoever stays in V-day and watches CT. Stay tuned.” So what more reason do you need to watch?
EP Kevin Biegel Tweeted, “Cougar Town will return to ABC on Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, 8:30! Nice to be back, everyone. Save some money, don’t go out, watch us.”
Today is the day that ABC faced the press and one of the big questions is when will Cougar Town be back? Paul Lee who runs the network promised that show will be back. At this point he is thinking March, but it might be sooner. He promised the announcement will be in the next few weeks. And when the show has an air date they plan on launching it correctly. I hope one of the ways is to pay Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel back for self-promoting the show by bringing it to the fans around the United States. What the EPs of the show are doing is revolutionary and they should be honored for what they are doing. Shows are still on the air because of their fans and this is the only show that has ever given back to them by actually taking the time and money to meet them and feel like they are part of the process. Cougar Town has a fan base unlike any other and it is about time that the network realized it.
Now when it comes to the other shows, General Hospital’s future is just like the storyline where the character is in a coma and whether or not they will awake is what will happen when the actor signs or doesn’t sign the contract. In other words there is no decision on the show’s future. One show’s future Paul Lee is hopeful on is Grey’s Anatomy that is still awaiting to find out which actors will be back and which will not.
Two of the shows that got air dates today are Apt 23 that will replace Happy Endings on April 11th. Endings will have concluded its season the week earlier. Scandal is Shonda Rhimes latest show and it will air after her first show Grey’s Anatomy starting on April 5th. Private Practice will get a four week run after Dancing with the Stars on Tuesdays after Body of Proof finishes it season. Personally I would have had Scandal at 8p, then Grey’s and finished the night with Private Practice. What do I know, I just watch TV not program it.
ABC announced their midseason schedule and missing from the schedule is Cougar Town that was suppose to be back in November and then January. Hopefully it will get on the schedule soon because I am missing my drinking buddies.
Now I know I am in the minority, but I really love Work It and I can’t wait to see what they do next with the show. Seriously out of all of the sitcom pilots for this year, this one made me laugh the most. Yes there are a lot of stupid laughs and you know what we need that every now and again.
When it comes to the rest, I haven’t yet to see them. GCB better be as good as some say because I am not ready to depart just from Pan Am.
