Katy Perry kissed a boy and he didn’t like it

Remember on the season premiere of American Idol when Katy Perry forced a kiss on a 19-year-old boy who had never been kissed before? Well The New York Times found Benjamin Glaze and they asked him how he felt about it.

He told the paper, “I was a tad bit uncomfortable.” Then he explained why, “I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.”

He also shared with them why he was saving himself, “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”

When he got back home, he talked to his friends about it and they said it does not count. Does he feel that she sexually harassed him? He does not. But some people think that she did. If what he says is true, you have to wonder if she took something special away from him. Yes, he had his 15-minutes of fame because of it, but was it worth it? That is only for him to say. And he said, “I’m glad she did it because it’s a great opportunity to get my music out.”

When it comes to Glaze, I am sure his real first kiss will go down with a blaze of glory!

What do you think about the kiss?

This is why 3 million more people watched The Voice over American Idol yesterday
March 13th, 2018 under American Idol 9+, Kelly Clarkson, The Voice. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_If9xMyl10
Yesterday was the first time, The Voice went head-to-head with ABC’s American Idol and only one was ratings winner. The NBC singing competition was watched by 11,720,000 people, while the ABC one was seen by only 8,360,000. Not only that, The Voice also beat it in the demo by .5, 2.3 as compared to 1.8. Even Dancing with the Stars does better and is closer to its competition numbers.

This has to be so scary for ABC because not only did Idol get beat, it also lost 2 million viewers in its second airing. It can only be downhill from here. Their experiment looks like a big failure, but let’s give it another week.

Now to the headline, The Voice made a major coop when they hired Kelly Clarkson, AI’s first winner. A risk that proved to be a really smart move. Not only did it see a rise in ratings from last week, it also gave us this sweet moment. Stephanie Skipper sang Clarkson’s emotional number Piece by Piece and caused the singer to start crying. Even though she did not turn around, she still praised the crap out the performance that was amazing.

The new Idol can only dream of having a moment like this (no pun intended). The three judges on AI are too stiff and rehearsed to let go like Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. That is what people want. Realness, playfulness and spunk!

When it comes to me, I don’t watch either. But if I was going to watch one, it would be The Voice. Who doesn’t love Kelly?

American Idol has lost its magic, while Deception is full of it!
March 11th, 2018 under ABC, American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

American Idol is back, but over on ABC. Except for the three new judges, it is the same old American Idol we knew on Fox. Although, they found a way to suck all of the life out of the once beloved show. I watched the 2-hour season premiere without commercials and it felt like it went on for 4 hours.

Katy Perry screams desperation. Look at me and my crazy wacky outfit. Lionel Richie is a legend, but does not have the energy and charm that other Motown stars like Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder or Little Richard have. Then there is Luke Bryan, I like him but he is flat. They are actually all flat. When they give critiques, they are just mean. When Simon gave them advice, it was mean, but you knew they needed to hear it. It made them better performers. These guys are just so blah. It is all so lackluster.

What about the auditions? First off, they lied about not showing bad auditions with crazy people. There a few on tonight’s episode. When it comes to the rest, they are trying to be like The Voice. Instead of going for the next pretty Carrie Underwood, they are looking for another quirky Clay Aiken. As in someone who is not the perfect rock star, but someone a lot more awkward.

When it comes to the actual auditions, I honestly did not know any of the songs. I guess ABC does not want to pay for songs we have heard of. But that is not the only problem. At one point, a 19-year-old boy comes in and says he has crush on Perry. Then it is revealed he has never been kissed, and she goes up to him and forces a kiss on him. He screws up the audition and then the bitch didn’t even send him to Hollywood. WTF? Is this new Idol? Count me out.

On a positive note, there is a lot less Ryan Seacrest.

In summary, ABC has sterilized American Idol. Unless they find a way to give it some pizazz, it will be the costliest mistake since NBC hired Megyn Kelly.

Then at 10p, it is time for some Deception. The show is magical and not just because the lead is an illusionist!

Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) is one of the greatest illusionists of our time, until his world comes crashing down. His twin brother, that no one knew about is arrested for murdering a woman. Now that everyone knows their secret, no one wants anything to do with him.

One day while he is watching the news, he sees a story about a plane that has gone missing from a locked hangar in front of several federal agents. He knows it was a trick, so he goes to show the FBI how it has been done. He somehow finagles his way into the case and now he is working on solving the crime with Special Agent Kay Daniels (Ilfenesh Hadera). She cannot stand him, but she realizes he might be able to help her.

Together the two of them, and his team of illusionists Dina (Lenora Crichlow), Jordan (Justin Chon) and Gunter (Vinnie Jones) will work together to catch the very bad guys with their tricks.

Each week, they will literally work their magic to put criminals behind bars as Cameron tries to get his brother out prison. Which makes this a procedural with a nice twist.

What makes Deception so special is its charm. You cannot help but to fall in love it before you say ta-dah.

American Idol gets a premiere date
November 6th, 2017 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: 2 ]

If you have been dying to know when American Idol will be back, well it is time to come back to life. That’s because Ryan Seacrest announced today on Live with Kelly and Ryan that the singing competition will debut on Sunday, March 11th. Which means it will be airing not only on a new network, with new judges (Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan), it will also be airing on a new night. So make sure to keep your Sunday nights free from 8-10p for American Idol.

What this means for the rest of ABC’s lineup, I am sure we will find out soon enough. I am sure Shark Tank will go back to Fridays and the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff will get the post-Idol timeslot. ABC desperately needs to have more than one hit because all of their new shows that aren’t called The Good Doctor are failing. Plus, some of their ageing shows are feeling their age.

Katy Perry looks like discarded carnival cotton candy
October 16th, 2017 under American Idol 9+, Katy Perry. [ Comments: none ]

American Idol 2.0 was in New Orleans over the weekend for auditions and the new judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, threw out beads to the fans. But that was not what I was focusing on here, I could not stop staring at the California Gurl’s dress. The pale pink and light blue feathered dress with her white blonde hair and fair skin, makes her look like a half-eaten cotton candy stick that a kid dropped at a carnival and their parents would not let them pickup and eat. Translation it is like that feeling when you eat too much carnival food.

Perry, there is a time and place for your over-the-top outfits, and American Idol is not one of them. OK! On the final night yes, but it is going to distract from the music if you continue wearing dresses like that up until they announce the winner.
