Finally someone asked how the Wild Card round in going to work next Thursday and MTV News got American Idol to clear up the rumors and explain how it is really going to work!
While those rumors have been creative, an “Idol” spokesperson said they are mostly off-base. Quite simply, each judge can pick two contestants from the top 36  from which everyone is eligible  and those eight (or possibly nine) singers will perform a song on the one-hour March 5 show, with three advancing into the top 12. (Are you as confused as we are about when the show airs? We have the coming weeks’ American Idol” schedule in the Newsroom blog.)
The same rules apply as during the audition phases, with majority picks winning the day and judge Simon Cowell casting the tie-breaking vote should there be a 2-2 deadlock, the spokesperson explained.
I was hoping they were going to be able to go outside the Top 36 because after watching the first two groups perform, I am so not impressed with anyone! I hope the third group is better because I haven’t seen anyone that is worthy of being the American Idol, have you?
…boring! Well besides that, the first three to advance to The Top 12 on Fox's American Idol are the widower Danny Gokey, that guy who sang the Gavin DeGraw song Michael Sarver and the blonde girl Alexis Grace. Am I the only who thought all three were lackluster. I thought Danny was going to be better, but his performance was a major yawner. Not saying he was any better or worse than the others. But so far none of the 12 that performed yesterday made me go American Idol. At least Tatiana was good TV and they advanced that guy who sang I Don't Want to Be.
But the biggest disappointment for me was Kara DioGuardi. OMG! She was useless. Between her and Randy, I want those lost seconds back that those two wasted by not offering anything up. What a waste she turned out to be. Hopefully we will go down to 3 Judges after this season and either Randy Jackson or her will no longer there. The show has more than enough filler as it is, they didn't need anymore with Kara.
Tonight begins when we see who really could be the American Idol on Fox at 8p! The first 12 of the Top 36 perform on American Idol 8! And I am rooting for Tatiana Nicole Del Toro because for now she makes great TV and I can hit the mute button if need be!!!
Fox is switching up its Wednesday schedule and now American Idol will go against Lost. According to The Live Feed Lie to Me moves to 8p and American Idol goes to 9p. I wonder who will be the bigger Lost against Idol? Or Lie to Me without the Idol lead in? I say Lie to Me because that lead in is so important, but then again Lost has been losing viewers by the week.
So the big question yesterday about American Idol was not who made it to Top 36, but the one person who did but was eliminated. Ryan Seacrest sort of explains to Fox News why Joanna Pacitti was eliminated.
“The producers do the background checks right around [the] Hollywood [round],” Seacrest said. “When they see something that stands out, they have to address it. And they saw something, and there was apparently some sort of a link that, somewhere along the line, could be construed as one that’s close to the competition, and they didn’t want to risk it.”
Seacrest, who was attending the opening of the new American Idol Experience themed section at Disneyworld, said it was a shame that Pacitti had to be disqualified after she had made the show’s first big cut.
“It’s a sad thing to have to tell a contestant they can’t compete,” he said. “But we have to play by our rules.â€Â
Sounds like Star magazine got it right and that her former-manager works for 19 Management. Do you think it was fair she was eliminated? I think so!
