What guy wouldn’t want to win a date with her?" said Dmitri Lee Natali, 19, a friend and former classmate of Bloom, 18, who lost a leg in the May 13 accident. "My mom happened to be able to contact (Biel’s) parents, and they had heard about Molly’s tragedy. They said ‘yeah, I bet she’ll do that.’"Biel, a Boulder native who is on location filming the movie "Next," won’t be at the fundraiser Tuesday, Biel said in her message.Bloom was run over and dragged about 38 feet by a Hummer stretch limousine, police said. Kate Hudson is everything Hollywood starlets should be!
July 9th, 2006 under Admirable People, Kate Hudson. [ Comments: none ]

KATE HUDSON is preparing a handwritten mantra which she plans to give to all new mums who ask her how she lost all her baby weight. The actress reveals she struggled to lose the weight she gained carrying baby RYDER and suffered bouts of depression as she battled the bulge. Hudson insists that positive thinking was the thing that gave her the edge, and she’s convinced the idea will work for other mums too. She explains, "I think one of the most important things for moms to do, and hopefully I’ll be able to write it down on a piece of paper and give it to all women who ask me this question, is to take the time out of your day to do something for yourself and make yourself feel good. "Part of that is the way your body feels, not necessarily how it looks – especially after you’ve gained 70 pounds. "I was depressed. I was the happiest, jolliest pregnant woman, then I had the baby and then I was just fat… I didn’t lose any weight delivering. "You’re breast feeding and you’re starving and looking at yourself in the mirror going, ‘I don’t feel good about myself.’ That is not a good feeling for any woman. "I went from losing 10 pounds to nothing for weeks and I had to do a movie (SKELETON KEY). I would just sit there crying, but when you finally get there, you feel so good."

WTF! Respect the first ammendment
June 29th, 2006 under Admirable People. [ Comments: none ]

INDONESIAN Police have arrested the country’s first Playboy model following accusations the shoot was indecent.

Playmate Kartika Gunawan posed in lingerie for the publication’s debut.

Authorities are now investigating claims she broke a decency violation law.

The magazine’s Indonesian debut caused a stir in the predominantly Muslim nation of 220 million, prompting the publisher to relocate its offices from the capital Jakarta to the more liberal island of Bali.

As a professional model, Gunawan believed she was dealing with a legal magazine that publishes images within limits set by the government.

She was being investigated for breaking an article of Indonesia’s criminal code, known as a "decency violation," and could face a maximum penalty of two years and eight months imprisonment.

Gunawan said she was worried, but had the "full support of her family."

She said: "I am not sorry, because every decision I made was well considered. I was not trying to make a sensation, many more people have posed more vulgar than I did."

Seriously, you have to respect Bill Gates!
June 16th, 2006 under Admirable People. [ Comments: none ]

Bill Gates has stepped down as chief software architect at Microsoft Corp. and will slowly transition out of the day-to-day role at the company by July 2008 in order to spend more time working on global health and education at his private foundation. Gates will continue to serve as Microsoft chairman and advise on key development projects after July 2008, the company said in a statement. Gates, 50, started Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT – News) with his childhood friend, Paul Allen, in 1975, and guided the company as it grew into the world’s largest software maker. The one-time Harvard University dropout is now a billionaire many times over who is regularly ranked as the world’s richest man. He is known around the world and is in many ways the face of the U.S. technology industry. In recent years, Gates has moved away from day-to-day operations at the company, spending more time with his philanthropic efforts at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which he founded with his wife, Melinda, in 2000. The Seattle-based foundation has assets of more than $29 billion. Microsoft immediately moved to fill the gap left by Gates. The company said Chief Technical Officer Ray Ozzie would step into the role of chief software architect. Ozzie will work "side by side" with Gates on the Redmond company’s technical architecture "to ensure a smooth transition," the company said. Chief Technical Officer Craig Mundie will become the company’s new chief research and strategy officer and will also work closely with Gates on research and incubation efforts. "This was a hard decision for me," Gates said in a statement. "I’m very lucky to have two passions that I feel are so important and so challenging. As I prepare for this change, I firmly believe the road ahead of Microsoft is as bright as ever." McAdams Wright Ragen Inc. analyst Paul Latta called the Gates transition "a very symbolic, perhaps historic, announcement." "He’s such a public figure, not only the CEO of the most highly valued company in the world but he’s also the founder of that company and does represent to some extent what’s possible in America," Latta said.
