A group of Marines and ex-Marines who fought in Iraq — including two wounded there — is featured in a beefcake calendar being sold to help wounded veterans. "It’s a stopgap effort to help people where government programs leave off," said Rudy Reyes, who served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and is on the calendar’s cover. "This is a way for citizens to help citizens." The "America’s Heroes" calendar is being sold by Freedom is Not Free, a San Diego-based nonprofit group that helps injured service members and their families with such expenses as travel, mortgage and utility bills and special beds for burn victims. Reyes and the other men who appear in the glossy 2007 lineup served in Iraq in Marine reconnaissance units. Sgt. James Wright, 31, who lost his hands and part of his leg, appears on the back cover in full uniform, saluting with what’s left of his right arm. Several members of the group, promoting the calendar on a cross-country tour, said Thursday they have medical conditions, ranging from combat stress-related symptoms to injuries to their feet, knees, hips and backs from carrying combat loads of more than 200 pounds. When service members come back, "many don’t have the financial or emotional support to get back to daily life," said former Sgt. Michael Saucier, 24, of Prior Lake, Minn., who served two Iraq tours and is now a carpenter’s apprentice in Lake Tahoe, Nev. All but one of the men had to be coaxed to pose shirtless for the calendar. "I wasn’t afraid to pose. This is the new-generation Marines," quipped Sean Mickle, 31, a Marine platoon sergeant at Camp Pendleton, Calif. The $14.99 calendar promises that "100 percent of proceeds aid wounded heroes and their families." Production expenses were covered by private donations to Freedom is Not Free, founded last year by entrepreneur David Dominguez. "There is a need," he said. "Some Iraq veterans are so depressed when they get back they can’t even fill out the papers required for benefits." The calendar is the brainchild of his client Jean Hamerslag, a California advertising executive who suggested that the organization’s fundraising needed something that would grab the public’s attention. "Sex," she said with a giggle.

DJ Fatboy Slim has traveled to West Africa to help thousands of AIDS orphans through sports. The hitmaker, real name Norman Cook, is part of the Coaching for Hope charity, which is currently using soccer to educate the children of Mali, who have lost their parents to the killer virus. And Cook is adamant the six-day experience earlier this month totally transformed his outlook on life. He says, "Coming here has been a life-changing experience. To see so many young children with no parents is something I will never forget. It makes you realise how we take what we’ve got for granted."

Liv Tyler has slammed celebrities who lose weight too quickly after giving birth. The ‘Lord of the Rings’ star gave birth to her son, Milo, with musician Royston Langdon, in December 2004, and insists she had no desire to lose her pregnancy weight quickly, despite the pressure on actresses to stay thin. She told Britain’s OK! magazine: "Dieting is always a pain. I wanted to enjoy my time out with my son and not be frantic and miserable about not eating and working out. "It bothers me that there is this culture about having to immediately lose you extra weight and I wasn’t interested in getting into that." Liv, 29, says 20 months after giving birth she is still struggling to shift the last of her pregnancy pounds. She added: "I’ve been having a hard time losing the last bit of weight I’d gained during my pregnancy.

Johannsson Disgusted With Hollywood Attitude To Weight…. Actress Scarlett Johansson has criticised the movie and fashion industries for encouraging eating disorders and unhealthy dieting among women. The voluptuous Lost In Translation star, who is celebrated for her old-fashioned Hollywood curves, insists the trend for actresses to become even thinner is not only dangerous but unsexy. And Johansson refuses to starve herself, despite constant pressure to conform to a slim figure. She says, "I try to stay fit and eat healthily, but I’m not anxious to starve myself and become unnaturally thin. "I don’t find that look attractive on women and I don’t want to become part of that trend. It’s unhealthy and it puts too much pressure on women in general who are being fed this image of the ideal, which it is not. "I think America has become obsessed with dieting rather than focusing on eating well, exercising and living a healthy life.

I hope more of young Hollywood follows her example and not Kate Bosworth’s.

Hayden Christensen is ok with the gay rumors |

HOLLYWOOD hunk Hayden Christensen is refusing to deny rumours he is homosexual – because he loves reading the gay gossip about himself. The Star Wars actor, who enjoyed a brief romance with Sienna Miller earlier this year, admits he loves lots of press attention. And he is more than happy to let speculation over his sexual orientation continue. He said: "It’s fun, entertaining – a joke. "To me masculinity is the ability to flirt with the effeminate. People I relate to know who I am." He added: "When people catch a picture of Sienna and me, they can speculate, and I don’t do anything. Rumours are more fun than reality."
Bizarre
So after reading this, do you think he is gay or straight?
