Tori Spelling reconciled with her estranged father Aaron Spelling exactly one week before the TV legend suffered a stroke at his California home. The 83-year-old is currently at home recovering after suffering the stroke on Father’s Day.

On June 11, Tori visited her father at his Beverly Hills mansion for the first time in nine months and introduced him to her new husband Dean McDermott. Tori split with husband Charlie Shanian after 15 months of marriage, which reportedly caused her relationship with her family to become strained.

She explains, "I’m so over the moon that Dean and my dad finally met." The teary reunion was prompted by her father’s ill health and helped along by Tori’s brother, Randy. Before suffering his stroke, Aaron was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2001.

Tori is still estranged from her mother, Candy, who was out of town when the visit occurred. She adds, "It’s sad that my mother and I have the relationship we do, but you can’t pick your family. I lost the last nine months of time with my dad because of the circumstances with my mom."

Tori says of the reunion with her father, "It was as if a day hadn’t gone by since we saw each other."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Television producer Aaron Spelling suffered a stroke over the weekend at his Holmby Hills estate and he’s being treated at home, his publicist said Wednesday.

"He had a stroke Sunday at home," spokesman Kevin Sasaki said, adding doctors were treating the 83-year-old producer at his mansion The Manor.

The producer of such TV shows as Beverly Hills 90210, Charlie’s Angels, Dynasty, Love Boat, Melrose Place and Fantasy Island is conscious and resting comfortably, Sasaki said. Spelling’s wife Candy has been at his side.

The seriousness of the stroke was unclear. Sasaki said he wasn’t aware of any paralysis.

"I don’t know the extent of it," Sasaki said. "But if it had been some incredible degree he would have been taken to the hospital."

Spelling’s other hit series included Burke’s Law, The Mod Squad, Starsky and Hutch, T.J. Hooker, Matt Houston, Hart to Hart and Hotel.

He also produced more than 140 television movies, including Death Sentence (1974), Nick Nolte’s first starring role, and The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976), John Travolta’s first dramatic role.

Spelling and his second wife, Candy, have two children, actress Tori Spelling and actor Randy, who appeared in the short-lived Malibu Shores.
