Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes are the romantic couple to beat during this season of holiday films in Netflix’s A Castle for Christmas.
Sophie Brown (Shields) is a beloved novelist until she kills off her leading man. Now, everyone, including Drew Barrymore, hates her. Since she is so hated, she knows she needs to get far away. So she goes to the castle that her grandfather worked at in Scotland.
As soon as she arrives, she meets Myles (Elwes). He is a grumpy Duke who owns the castle. He is going through hard times, and he needs to sell his family’s home. However, he doesn’t want to do it. And he doesn’t want to sell it to Sophie, who made an offer on the castle.
Therefore, he comes up with a bunch of rules to make her miserable. He thinks that if he does that, she will go back to America. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t know who he is messing with. She is in it for the long haul.
Especially since she has befriended several of the townspeople. She joined the local knitting group with Helen (Tina Gray), Angus (Stephen Oswald), Maisie’s (Andi Osho), Thomas (Lee Ross), and Rhona (Eilidh Loan) at the Inn where she stayed when she first arrived. They make her time there special. And they have accepted because she is one of them, thanks to her grandfather who grew up there.
That is another thing that makes Myles unhappy. However, eventually, Sophie makes him happy. Will the author become a Duchess, or will Myles die all alone, broke in his castle? You are just going to want to watch this endearing movie to find out.
A Castle for Christmas follows a lot of the holiday movies’ format, but without the cheese factor. I enjoy the cheese factor, but I can only watch so much of that before I go back to Christmas Horror movies. This film makes me want to watch more Christmas movies. So there is no Bah Humbug factor with it.
So, put on the fireplace, get the eggnog, and Netflix and Chill with the romantic couple of the season.
