Before Carrie Fisher died, she finished filming for Star Wars: The Last Jedi aka Episode XIII, but they were nowhere close to even thinking about filming the last movie in the franchise. Which made us wonder would she would or would she not be in the final film.

Today, we got the answer. Star Wars revealed that Princess Leia Organa will be in the film and it will not be a CGI version of her as there was one in Rogue One. Instead, they will be using previously unreleased footage of her that was shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Good thing they brought back J.J. Abrams to direct because he also directed A Force Awakens and knows how to make it work. In fact, he said, “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

This is doing her legacy proud. She is not the only original (from the first 3 films) in the movie, so are Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams. Not only that, John Williams will once again score the music for the feature.

Even though I have not seen a Star Wars movie since Episode I, I am actually looking forward to seeing this one next September.
