[ # ] Sting on the meaning behind Roxanne and how his behind is heard on it
November 16th, 2016 under The Police

Back before The Police was one of the biggest selling bands of the ’80s, they played really seedy locations. One night the trio, played in area that had a lot of Brothels, but Sting couldn’t afford one to bring up to his hotel room. Therefore he imagined what it would be like to have a relationship with one and maybe even marry her. And that is the story behind their first huge hit Roxanne.
Talking about behinds, Sting also told Howard Stern what that weird sound and laughter is that you hear at the beginning of the tune. The singer thought the piano lid was down, but it wasn’t. So that his butt tickling, or should say, smashing the ivories.
I will hear that song in a whole new red light.
