Rondi Reed, who plays Mike’s mean mother on Mike & Molly, took to Facebook to announce that not only will the 6th season of the Emmy winning show be the last, but that their episode order was cut from 22 to 13.

Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have) this is the Final and 6th Season of MIKE & MOLLY on CBS. It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network. We are done taping as of January 27th 2016 and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired. The network has it’s reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds. Other venues were explored by WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show. It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks. I remain extremely grateful to have been a part of this and to have worked with a fabulous bunch of folks over the years. I have learned a lot about many things, including the Business we call Show. Also grateful for all the fans and for the personal support I have received over the (almost) 6 seasons. Stewart Talent has guided me every step of the way on this journey and for that I am also forever grateful.

I don’t know what CBS is thinking, this show has continuously done well for them even though it never had an air date nor got any publicity. On top of that, it is a much funnier comedy than their unfunny Life in Pieces and Angel From Hell that lives up to the last two words in the title. CBS doesn’t get comedy and I don’t get them. Well, I guess I do. If Mike & Molly was a procedural where Mike and Carl solved murders every week instead of just driving around in their squad car, then it would still be on the air and not filling time while Survivor is on break.
So if you are a fan of the show, make sure to watch on its new night Wednesdays at 8:30p starting on January 6th.

UPDATE: Billy Gardell, who plays Mike, Tweeted that is the last season too. He said, “Mike and Molly returns Jan 6, it will be our last episodes. There are 13 of them. Thank you everyone who supported us. 🙏🙏❤️❤️”

UPDATE: Melissa McCarthy just Tweeted about the cancellation, “I was shocked and heartbroken when @CBS canceled #MikeAndMolly. I would have shot this show for 50 more years. I’ll miss my 2nd family.”
