Jeff Daniels told Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show that the day before he was going in for a wardrobe fitting for Dumb and Dumber, his agents told him that they would get him out of the role. The Newsroom star said he really wanted to do the role because he wanted to work with Jim Carrey. So eventually they gave in to him and said OK.
Then the CBS late night host asked him where are those agents now? Harry Dunne admitted that they are no longer with us, and one of them met their fate by “suspect means.”
So the morale of this story is that if your client is Jeff Daniels, let him do whatever movie he wants. Even if you haven’t heard of anything that is dumb or dumber than that film.
