Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly signed up to appear in a big screen version of Sweeney Todd. The comedian will play Signor Adolfo Pirelli, a barber who becomes Todd’s nemesis, in director Tim Burton’s film of the musical, according to Variety. Burton’s long-term partner Helena Bonham Carter will star as Mrs Lovett, who teams up with Todd to kill people, grind them up and use them in her meat pies. Cohen will apparently only spend a couple of weeks filming in London in February. Next year he is also due to shoot Bruno, the follow-up to Borat featuring another of his outlandish characters, a gay Austrian fashion reporter.

If I were Johnny Depp, I would be nervous that he would take over as Tim Burton’s favorite actor.
