The ABC version of American Idol is finally rid of Katy Perry, and they got season 4 winner Carrie Underwood to replace her.
I guess it is a big deal to the network. So much so that they are going to air a preview episode of the singing competition after the Oscars on March 2nd.
During that episode, we will watch as Carrie Underwood is welcomed into the mix by host Ryan Seacrest and co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Not only that, but we will also get to see a few auditions from the 23rd/8th season that premieres in its regular timeslot a week later.
I get that it is probably ABC’s biggest show, but I would have asked for 9-1-1 to do a standalone Oscars episode. Like there is a case of food poisoning going on at the show, and now Station 118 has to try to save all of these sick celebrities who are barfing and shitting all over the place! Or there is a fire outside the theater, and the attendees are trapped inside. There is so much that they could’ve done than making us fall asleep watching vanilla Underwood.
