Beyoncé surprised us all on Super Bowl Sunday when she announced that she was releasing a Country album. Along with the announcement, she shared the first two singles, Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages, from Renaissance Act II.
And now one of those songs is #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. By topping that chart with Texas Hold ‘Em, she becomes the first African-American woman to do so.
I know there are Country stations that are opting not to play her tune, but they are making a mistake.
Just like how Taylor Swift brought new fans into football, Beyoncé will do the same with Country. And that is a good thing. More fans equals more money!
Although, she doesn’t need any more money. Because with this #1, she has now topped seven different types of music charts on Billboard: Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Hot Gospel Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Hot R&B Songs, and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The only artist who has done more than her is Justin Bieber with eight.
