Jimmy Kimmel has been a very vocal opponent of guns. Therefore, he has been using his platform to speak out against them, especially after Monday’s horrific shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

So yesterday, when WFFA, the Dallas ABC affiliate, cut away from his monologue, fans of the talk show wondered what happened.

When word got back to Kimmel, he responded to the fans on Twitter, “To my friends in Dallas who are asking: I do not know whether our @ABCNetwork affiliate @wfaa cut away from my monologue tonight intentionally or inadvertently but I will find out.”

This morning WFAA apologized for the technical difficulties and explained what happened.
“WFAA extended its Wednesday 10 p.m. newscast for important coverage of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,” the station wrote. “Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired immediately following our newscast. Unfortunately, the automated system that triggers commercials aired the first commercial break in error, interrupting Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue. The same technical error also impacted two commercial breaks later in the program, not just the one interrupting the monologue.”

When Kimmel found out what happened, he gave an update to his viewers, “I’ve known the staff at @wfaa personally and professionally for almost 20 years and believe this mistake was made unintentionally. Thanks for reposting and for correcting this error. Sending love to all my friends in Texas.”

Dallas has been a town full of conspiracies since John F. Kennedy was shot there, so I was hoping that this would be another one. Sadly, this is not one of them.
