9-1-1: Lone Star stars Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler, but only one of them is coming back for season two. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tyler has opted not to return to the first responders’ drama.
The actress lives in London with David Gardner and their two children who are under six. Due to traveling restrictions because of the rising COVID-19 cases in both countries, she doesn’t want to be away from her family for such a long time. Therefore, she asked to be let out of her contract, and they agreed.
According to Deadline, they will not recast her character. Instead, they will fill her departure with the previously cast Gina Torres as Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega.
