Fifth season contestant Chris Daughtry is returning to the American Idol stage tonight with his rockin’ band!!! Daughtry are going to debut the first single, No Surprise (and it is No Surprise how awesome it is) from their upcoming album that is coming out on July 14th!!! The yet-to-be-titled CD is the band’s first one since the chart topping self-titled CD which was the largest selling album of the year in 2007!
The remaining four American Idols should bow down to him tonight and pray their careers are 1/100th of his because not one of them is anywhere near his caliber. Seriously when you hear him singing Styx’s Renegade when he was on the show, you can really see and hear that not one of them last night was even near his awesomeness. Especially my fave Kris Allen and the need to Go Danny Gokey who also sang that song as a duet. How painful was that. BTW I am convinced it was Gokey’s version of Dream On that brought down the Idol set that injured a stage manager. That was GA.
Here is a positive note for the person that is eliminated tonight, Chris Daughtry also went out 4th when he was the show! And we all know how that turned out for him!!!
Moviehole was (un)lucky enough to get their hands on the sh!tty details of the movie that claims to be a remake of The Karate Kid with Ralph Macchio.
Sherry is offered a transfer to China. Considering the U.S office is about to lay off everyone, it’s really her only choice; especially since nobody else at the office has been offered a transfer. With her young son Dre (Jaden Smith) in tow, the single-mother makes Beijing her new home. Needless to say, not knowing Chinese, and experiencing a bit of culture shock, they both find it a little hard to settle in – – Dre especially.
Like Daniel Larusso in the original film, Dre (who, unlike Larusso, is a skateboarding video-game buff) immediately catches the attention of the local bullies – in particular, Lui Wei Cheng. And before too long, Dre is going home with bruises (he tries to hide a black-eye under a cap by pulling it as far down his face as he can) and whining about wanting to return to the states.
Dre’s enrolled into a strict Beijing Middle School. His first day there is a bit of a shambles – the assistant principal spots his bruises, and assumes he’s been fighting (which, of course, they don’t accept under any circumstances), and he turns up in a school uniform, something he didn’t have to wear that day (there’s only certain days when a uniform is required).
The Mr Myiagi character is actually named Mr. Han (Jackie Chan). He’s the maintenance man of the apartment lock that Sherry and Dre have moved into, and meets the new residents when he’s called over to fix their hot water service. From the bathroom, Han spots Dre practicing martial-arts kicks (unsuccessfully) in front of a video-game, and catches his black eye. Later, of course, he’ll agree to teach him – both martial-arts and the Chinese language (so he can impress his mother by haggling over apples).
The ‘John Kreese’ character – the character played by Martin Kove in the original film – is Li Quan Ha, the owner of the Fighting dragon school of Kung-Fu. One visit to the school – in which Li Quan terrorizes his students (who range from the age of 3 onwards), namely Lui Wei Cheng – and Dre is immediately put off.
Oh, and yes, there’s a love interest – someone mother wants Dre to bring home for dinner.
“The film has a similar tone to the original movie”, I’m told. “There are a lot of funny lines – mainly delivered by Jackie Chan. It is actually a good script though, very good in fact. It’s different enough to be considered its own beast too”.
Will Smith needs to give up that this piece of crap he created for his son Jaden is anyway related to the original The Karate Kid. Seriously I pray this movie goes straight-to-DVD because it really deserves to go straight-to-the-trash.
On that note, here is something positive…According to CinemaBlend Robert Rodriguez’s Barbarella with his fiancee Rose McGowan is officially dead!!! One remake down, many many more to go!!!
UPDATE: I just figured out why the character’s name is Dre it is short for Dreadful which this movie is going to be!
Star Trek’s original Captain Kirk aka William Shatner posted this video of him meeting the new Captain Kirk aka Chris Pine for the first time at the Iron Sink Shatner Project event! How cool was it to see their first encounter? Chris seemed genuinely excited to finally meet him!!! Too awesome!
Last week I posted pictures of the two Spocks (Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto) together at that same event. Yesterday on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Zachary Quinto aka the new Spock talked about Living Long and Prospering with original Spock at Nimoy’s house!
BTW I am so officially excited for Star Trek that is finally coming out this Friday!!! Who is else going this weekend?
ABC released 6 preview clips from tonight’s Lost at 9p! OMG! That top clip (which is the 3rd in sequence) left my mouth open and me saying WTF! How many questions did that one scene ask and answer. My poor brain cells. Thankfully I had that second one (fifth in the sequence) to give me a chuckle! I so love Hurley!!!
But getting back to Lost, how awesome was last week’s episode that seems to lead into the final chapter of the show and might give us a hint how this show will end. But when it comes to Lost I feel it is safer to never ever assume what the heck is happening. My brains cells requested that!
