7 more for Veronica Mars |

The Veronica Mars news we’ve been waiting for is here — and it’s mostly good. Rob Thomas confirms that the CW has ordered seven more episodes, bringing the total number of Mars hours this season to 20. Sure, it’s not the full, 22-episode pickup we were all hoping for, but I say we take what we can get and run with it. Now, you’re probably wondering, "What does this limited pickup mean for the final two mystery arcs this season!?" Well, Rob’s trying to figure that out as we speak. But obviously they’ll be shorter than he had originally intended.

Whitney Houston no longer has the suburban Atlanta home she shared with Bobby Brown, according to a published report. The five-bedroom Alpharetta home went into foreclosure this fall and was sold on the steps of the Fulton County Courthouse earlier this month, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday. The property has gone back up for sale for $1.4 million, according to real estate Web sites. Houston’s Atlanta attorney, Mark Trigg, confirmed the foreclosure to the newspaper but did not provide other details. The couple bought the home in 2003 for $1.1 million. Meanwhile, Houston’s New Jersey mansion is slated to be sold at a sheriff’s sale on Jan. 4 because she is more than $1 million behind on the mortgage and taxes have not been paid this year, the Daily Record of Parsippany reported.

Did Madonna’s new book bomb because of David’s adoption? |
| November 17th, 2006 under Books, Madonna. [ Comments: none ]

It may not be true after all that all publicity is good publicity. Take Madonna. Her hellacious month of bad press concerning the adoption, legal or otherwise, of a Malawian child has turned out to be a buzz kill for book sales. "The English Roses: Too Good to Be True" has been an out-and-out bust so far. Madonna’s latest children’s book, released on Oct. 24, has sold just 9,000 copies, according to Nielsen Bookscan. By contrast, the first "English Roses" book has sold 350,000 copies since its release in 1993. But most of those were sold soon after publication. It’s not like Madonna didn’t do anything for this new book. She did interviews with Oprah, Regis, "Dateline," etc. But by the time she did them, the adoption scandal was in full force. Despite some positive feedback, Madonna has mostly been criticized for prying a 1-year-old away from his father. Rarely in pop culture history has a plan so exploded in a celebrity’s face. It probably didn’t help that this column pointed out that Madonna’s children’s books bear a warning that all proceeds go to Philip Berg’s Kabbalah organization. Of course, the irony there is that the proceeds, according to publisher Callaway Editions, go to Madonna, and then she writes the check to Kabbalah. “We have no idea what she does with the money,” says a Callaway source.

TONY Danza may be coming back to New York. After his talk show was canceled last year, he flew back to Los Angeles where his wife and kids were waiting. But Danza is now in talks to play Max Bialystock – the role Nathan Lane made famous, and which is now being played by John Treacy Egan – in "The Producers" on Broadway. Danza’s rep confirmed the "preliminary discussions" and added, "It would be for three months, from December to February."

I have loved him since Taxi, but I do not think this is the role for him.

Angelina Jolie’s Bodygaurds arrested for school incident |

Three of Angelina Jolie’s bodyguards were arrested by Indian police and then freed on bail following a scuffle with parents at a Mumbai Islamic school during a movie shoot, police and lawyers have said. Jolie, accompanied by her partner Brad Pitt and their three children, is in India for a month to film scenes for "A Mighty Heart", a film about US journalist Daniel Pearl’s abduction and murder by Islamic militants in Pakistan in 2002. "The three bodyguards were granted bail. The case appears to be in cold storage now, unless the police decide to chargesheet them later," Mahesh Jethmalani, a lawyer who represented the bodyguards, told AFP Friday. Bail for each of the bodyguards was set at 25,000 rupees (555 dollars). The three burly bodyguards for the Hollywood star Jolie were arrested early Friday morning from the posh South Mumbai Taj Mahal Hotel, deputy police commissioner Brijesh Singh told AFP. Singh said the bodyguards were arrested on charges of "threatening" and "insult to religion" after parents filed a formal complaint with local police late Thursday. Jolie had late Thursday been stuck at the private Anjuman-i-Islam school when angry parents accused her bodyguards of shoving their children around. The private NTDV network showed footage of the skirmish, where an unidentified man said one of Jolie’s bodyguards called a man in the crowd outside the school a "bloody Indian" and made a gesture miming the slitting of a throat. "Some of the students were pushed around when they were leaving school by the bodyguards," said Mohammed Yousuf, general secretary of the parent teacher association, whose two children study at the school. Dallington TV, the production house of "A Mighty Heart", blamed paparazzi for the incident. "We had got full permission and cooperation of the school to film on the premises. Unfortunately, our arrival was impeded by the paparazzi waiting at the school gates," the production house said. "When the gates were opened to allow parents to collect their children, the paparazzi rushed the school, causing confusion," the statement said. This is at least the third time the Hollywood star and her entourage has ruffled feathers since her arrival in India last month. In October, one of the bodyguards roughed up a British photographer in the western city of Pune. The couple also upset officials in the resort city of Jodhpur after they landed a helicopter without permission

I bet they can’t wait for this movie to end production already.
