Married eight times, undoubtedly Elizabeth Taylor has tangled with a few predators in her time. So perhaps it should come as no surprise to see the 74-year-old actress looking comfortable in a shark cage. Seemingly oblivious to her ever-deteriorating health, the wheelchair-bound star donned a mask and snorkel, and plunged feet first into the Pacific Ocean for a shark-viewing excursion. Later describing the experience as the "most exciting thing" she has ever done, Miss Taylor allowed herself to be barricaded into a 10ft by
6ft Plexiglas cage which was lowered below surface level. Wearing a baggy white t-shirt over an all-in-one swimming costume, she maintained a modicum of glamour with perfectly manicured red nails and several sparkly bangles. After spitting into her mask – to prevent the plastic eye area from misting up – she enthusiastically clambered into the cage, albeit with the help of two aides. From here the double Oscar winner tried the snorkel on for size before tentatively dipping her head into the water and looking for her first shark. Having paddled around for thirty minutes, a clearly exhausted – but happy – Miss Taylor came up for fresh air. In a departure from her usual lady-like elegance, she emerged dripping wet, with her dark hair slicked down in a rather unflattering side parting. After being helped back on board the Kainani boat, she towelled herself down and slipped on a kaftan-style nightdress over navy blue slipper socks. It is not known whether Miss Taylor actually went nose to nose with any Sandbar sharks or Galapagos during the two-hour, £52 fish trip. However, the adventure signifies a remarkable return to health for the actress. For the past few years she has remained a reclusive figure, largely holed up in her Hollywood mansion.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its best-selling album, Def Leppard will reissue "Hysteria" as a two-CD package Oct. 24 via Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UME. Beyond a remastered edition of the original album, the new edition includes a bonus disc with a host of non-album tracks first issued during the period. Among them are the studio B-sides "Tear It Down," "Ride Into the Sun," "I Wanna Be Your Hero" and "Ring of Fire," live versions of "Elected," "Love And Affection" and "Billy’s Got a Gun" recorded in Holland in July 1987 and extended mixes of five tracks. "Hysteria" has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide, according to the label, and spawned six top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including the top 10s "Love Bites," "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Armageddon It," and "Hysteria."

Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn may wind up portraying legendary physicist Albert Einstein for a joint U.S.-Italian TV film production. Penn, 46, is reportedly interested in working with writer/director Liliana Cavani, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Tuesday. The project is a joint effort between the U.S. premium cable TV network HBO and Italy’s RAI state broadcaster, ANSA said. An RAI spokesman said Penn appears enthusiastic about the project. "He’s read the screenplay and he likes it," RAI’s Agostino Sacca told ANSA. Penn’s latest film, "All the Kings Men," opens Friday in U.S. theaters.

David Beckham today broke his silence on his wife Victoria’s controversial size 0 figure, revealing that he makes her eat. The former England captain stuck up for the ex-Spice Girl’s stick-thin look, insisting that she does consume food regularly – because of him. "I see Victoria every day of course and I make sure she eats well and she eats healthy," he told GMTV. "She looks after the way she is, you know, it is down to that person. You are beautiful whatever you are, it is about that person, about how you feel." Victoria, 32, is regularly criticised for being a bad role model to young girls because her weight has dropped to below seven stone. Beckham also told how he influenced his wife to have her trademark extensions chopped off into a bob – because that is the style she sported when they first met eight years ago. That, however, wasn’t the only reason. Becks, 31, also revealed how nice it is for him to run his fingers through her hair without finding knotty extensions. "I said to her, ‘I’d love you to change your hair, and do something like a bob,’ so when I saw the pictures I was like, ‘Oh My God, it looks incredible’. "It was my idea, she knew how strongly I felt about her going back to a bob because when I first met her she had a bob so I said it’s the best haircut for me. It’s actually nice to put my hands through her hair and not feel the extensions. "I love her whatever she looks like, whatever weight she is. She is great at the moment." Speaking frankly about his wife and their sons Brooklyn, seven, Romeo, four, and 19-month-old Cruz, Beckham, who is promoting his latest book Make It Real, also revealed how he told his children that he no longer plays for England because he wants to spend more time with them. "The boys have asked why I’m not playing and I’ve said, ‘Well, I want to spend more time with you’, and they are so happy," he said.
