William Shatner responded to J.J. Abrams’ explanation why the original Captain Kirk is not in the new Star Trek. I believe Shatner on this one. Star Trek takes place in the future and you are going to tell me they can’t figure out how to resurrect someone by then?
Personally I don’t think you can have Star Trek movie with Spock and not Captain Kirk too, but that is just me.
Eh, as much as I love Mr. Shatner’s Kirk, I think this movie should have been, and was, more about handing over the reigns to a new generation. Spock was in it sure, but he fulfilled the role of handing over the reigns very well by playing a small part in the movie. An old Kirk, and New Kirk would have led to too much headbutting and/or one of them being left out far too much… that’s just how his character is. Spock on the other hand, is a character driven by logic and reason, and he saw it appropriate to stay out of the way as much as possible.
