Jamie Lynn Spears is a mother at the age of 17 and can kiss her youth goodbye. Jamie Lynn Spears had Maddie Briann today according to People.
"Just the family was there," says a source about the birth around 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown. "Everyone is healthy and happy."
Teenage pregnancies should not be glorified because teens are too young to be parents. Something that will be shown next week on NBC when The Baby Borrowers premieres on Wednesday at 9p. This is a show that everyone should watch and shows that being a parent as a teen or at any age is not an easy thing.
“Every child deserves a warm welcome and we hope that Jamie Lynn Spears’ new daughter, Maddie Briann, will be surrounded by much love, support and comfort. But the media frenzy that is sure to now erupt, as it did when this pregnancy was announced last December, provides every parent, teacher, media outlet and more a chance to state the truth: babies need and deserve adult parents who are committed to each other and to decades of being the best parents possible. Hundreds of thousands of teens and unmarried young adults get pregnant and become parents every single year, and few of them have Hollywood beginnings or endings. Getting pregnant and bearing children is one of the most important steps that any person ever takes, and it deserves careful planning, thought and consideration.â€
Check them out for statistics on teen pregnancy and prevention. Condoms good!!!
UPDATE: NBC’s The Baby Borrowers sent a congrats note to the new teen mom Jamie Lynn Spears!!! Shame this show wasn’t on before she got pregnant. Hopefully The Baby Borrowers will prevent at least one more teen pregnancy if not more!
Saw some promos for this Baby Borrowers show. Sounds like Jamie Lynn would have benefited from this, but seriously, do we think that a reality show is really going to teach people safe sex?
The show looks rather entertaining though, almost as entertaining as watching the spears sisters.
so funny. i read the jamie lynn spears story, then the pregnancy pact story then saw a commercial for baby borrowers and thougth omg! this is all so mudh in line with each other. a perfect show to remedy this crazy trend.
It’s a shame that this show came too late for Ms. Spears. Maybe then she wouldn’t have gotten knocked up at 16. Because now she can kiss her childhood and career goodbye. She’ll be a wash-up before her sister was.
The same thing happened to me! I saw the news regarding the birth of Jamie-Lynn’s baby, then the story about the pregnancy pact & then the promo for Baby Borrowers!!! My husband and I are in the heart-wrenching process of trying to adopt and we also tried to get pregnant for years…..it is crazy that these ‘kids’ are just having babies with no real thought to how their lives will change….while people like my husband and I are more than ready to start our families. I wish the best to all these teenage moms and hope they have make the right decision regarding the care of themselves & their babies…At least with Jamie Lynn, she has the resources to support & take care of her child…at least financially. Most of these teen moms have no idea how much it takes to run a household….much less how expensive it is to properly care for a child. I wish them all the best.
Wow, Baby Borrowers sent a congratulations note to Jamie Lynn?! Classic. That is some serious promotion. Hopefully they sent her a copy of the show, but too bad it’s too late.
Hey i am a mom at 17 as well,i got pregnant at 16 and i think people are wrong when they say that teens arent ready. I mean dont get me wrong yea where young, still have a childish mind and arent emotionally ready for a kid but that can also go for an adult. so basically to me its just the person. Even though i am young, i am a great mom. Noone could every say that i drop my kid on someone just because im tired. I made the decision to have my son and i knew that having him meant that i wouldnt be able to continue being a teenager. I have no regrets of having my son,he means the world to me, and without him i dont know what or who i would be now. I have straighten up every since i had him. I kno they’re some teens who cant handle having a baby but they’re are a few like me who are willing and loves them dearly. Having a baby is a blessing.
The presses’ coverage of Jaime Lynn Spears is detrimental to American teenagers. Most teens who get pregnant are not rich and famous and do not have the methods to support their children. This and shows like Baby Borrowers says its ok to get pregnant when you are to immature and unable to financially raise a family. Shame on you media.
I am 25 and have an 8 month old and I, some days find it tough. So I don’t think age really plays a part in if you will be a good parent or not. I know teen mothers and I believe they give their babies the same life (if not better) then some ‘adults’. I think my issue is why would you want to go through your teenage years with that extra responsibility? Wouldn’t you want to make sure your baby’s daddy is the right guy for you and your child? Don’t you want to finish highschool and/or college and have some savings or a career to make your life that much easier? I am not saying teenage moms can’t do it but what is the rush? It just seems like it is the ‘it’ thing to do. I wish ALL moms the best of luck.
i support jamie and casey, i think they did the right thing. i was expecting at 17, had my daughter at 18, and now me and her father are happily married and a family!
I am now 18 years old and have a 9 month old daughter and am currently living happily with my boyfriend of 6 years in our own place. so you can say all you want about how teenage mothers are irresponsible and not ready for having a baby but I am defenitly a better mother than many adults i know. When I found out I was pregnant at 17 we were both very excited. I was pregnant through my grade 12 year, i graduated and worked part time. So you shouldnt say things about “teen moms” because it doesnt matter if you are a teenager or not, it totally depends on the person.

I think it is a great show that show us teenagers that having a baby is not easy…..as me and my sister watched the show we said we would like to try that….
well like its good that she has the money to support the baby, and like there are tons of underage mothers out there. The only difference is that the media is all over her for every single move she makes and they ar there when she happens to make a mistake like all of us do
I think that the American oublic has become too enamored with the this story. Is it because she’s an all-american girl? Is it b/c you can see your daughters in her? Her story is typical, what is not typical is the amount attention it has recieved. If it was an African-American or Hispanic American in the same situation there would be no debating or pious chatter about ethics. It would be ignored and privately explained as failings of a race. The people who write all of this bullshit about America going down the tubes because Jamie Lynn had a baby is seriously out of touch with what’s really going on in America.
LEAVE HER ALONE!!!!Its her baby and her life. She can do as she chooses. Its no one elses business what she does with her baby. If she feels that shes ready then thats just that. Talking badly about her isnt going to change a thing. I know PLENTY of adults that arent good parents and plenty of teenagers. Just because your young doesnt mean that your stupid and immature. It depends on the person and their character. I think jamie lynn is going to be a good mom;
i am the 18 year old mother of 4 months old baby.i love babies even i said to my husband that we will have 5 babies and 1 or 2 after our hese planned five babies will get married..lol
