[ # ] Did you know David Letterman is responsible for Everybody Loves Raymond?
December 27th, 2012 under David Letterman

David Letterman was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors and Ray Romano was one of the 4 celebrities that introduced him. When Romano was talking about what the CBS late night host means to him, he told a story and revealed something I didn’t know about Letterman. Romano said he was hired to do a pilot and just a day into rehearsals he was fired from it. But he didn’t give up. Then one Saturday he got a phone call from the Letterman people, and he was nervous about what they wanted just days after he appeared on The Late Show. When he got on the phone it was the show’s producer who said that Letterman liked what he saw and he wanted to sign him to a development deal. That deal lead to a little show called Everybody Loves Raymond. One of of the best sitcoms to ever grace our televisions. Who knew that Letterman was a silent partner in bringing that show to life. Now we all do thanks to The Kennedy Center Honors honoring the most respected late night host on TV today.

Yep. Letterman’s production company was behind Everybody Loves Raymond. And the sitcom that Ray Romano got fired from was NewsRadio on NBC–the role went to Joe Rogan instead.
