Tonight at 8p, we will get to know Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents in The Winchesters on The CW. If you thought they were tough, wait until you get to know Mary (Meg Donnelly) and John (Drake Rodger) Winchester. Now we know where their sons got their resilience from. And this is just the first episode.

Like every love story, we have to see how the couple met. So, the show starts off with John on a bus returning from his tour of duty over in Vietnam. When he gets off of the bus, he sees Mary coming out of a movie theater.

Wait, what? It isn’t fighting over demons? Nope! In fact, John doesn’t know this is his legacy because his mother has been keeping it from him, and his missing father never told him.

His father isn’t the only one who is missing, and so is Mary’s dad. Now, she is on a mission to find him. And John will help her when he accidentally follows her down her path. A path she has been on since she was a little kid.

Maybe it is because he served in Vietnam, or it could be because it is in his blood, but John is a natural. So reluctantly, Mary takes him with her. Proving that they were soulmates until that fateful night. But that is the start of Supernatural.

Back to The Winchesters. The two of them are not alone. They have Carlos (JoJo Fleites), who is a badass Native American hippie type who is going to give us some of the comic relief we need. Then there is Latika (Nida Khurshid), who is a behind-the-scenes type of girl. She is a little afraid of the demons they fight, but she is getting there.

Together the four of them are going to make the demons wish they stayed down in Hell. And we are grateful they didn’t because this is the best CW show since Supernatural ended!

Maybe because it comes from Jensen Ackles, who is treating the show the same way Dean treated The Impala. Like his baby! And that just makes the show that much better.

All of the actors are great, and the chemistry is there, but I have to praise the shit out of Meg Donnelly. I am a fan of hers from American Housewife and the ZOMBIES movies. And I had to do an IMDB search to find out who was playing Mary. She does such a 180; you will not believe this is the same actress who was singing and dancing with zombies, aliens, and werewolves a few months ago. Man, she is tough as nails, and I am here for it.

Seriously, I am here for the series. And I can’t wait to see what they bring us next week and the week after that and so on.

If you watched Supernatural, you will fucking love this program. If you never saw the original series, you will still love it. The prequel is the best new drama on television this season by a long shot.

This is the type of show that gets your adrenaline pumping. So it is like exercising while sitting on your fat asses! At least my ass is fat, but that is a whole other post!

Back to The Winchesters, check them out, my Wayward Sons. Oh, and don’t expect a lot of the music from Supernatural to be on this show. It might’ve been Classic Rock to Sam and Dean, but it doesn’t yet exist in John and Mary’s timeline.
