May 29th ABC cancelled
Roseanne over a racist tweet she wrote and 23 days later they announced they picked up the spinoff that will have everyone but her.
ABC described The Conners (tentative title) as, “After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. – grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”
Does that sound like something you will want to watch? Then mark your calendars for Tuesdays at 8p because that is when the 10 episodes will air.
When it comes to me, I will skip it. I hated last season. It did not feel like the original. It was missing the heart that made it so great. It could have been Roseanne’s fault. It could have been Whitney Cummings’ fault because she only writes punchlines. Both of them are gone. Wait, maybe I talked myself into watching it.
