So my friend and I have a thing about judging how smart we are. Basically, neither one of us is Jeopardy smart. However, she is Celebrity Jeopardy smart, while I am Jeopardy preschool smart.
Therefore, when we heard that Prime Video was giving us Pop Culture Jeopardy, we were like we have this. After watching the first three episodes, I can admit that I don’t. I lost my Pop Culture Crown, and I am not getting back.
Having said that, I will be watching more episodes. I might be stupid, but I like that feeling. Probably because I am comforted by Colin Jost’s hosting style. You can tell he is a natural at this, and he is having so much fun doing it. Well, not all the time. He didn’t like it when he had to read Rap lyrics. I never heard Alex Trebek or Ken Jennings complain like he did during that category. And that is what makes him funny. He also has a great and natural rapport with the contestants.
Thankfully, I am not a contestant because I don’t think anyone could do as bad as I would. But then again, I can bring two smarter friends with me. Because, unlike Jeopardy OG, they play in teams of three. So, there is always someone to have your back, and they can answer the questions I can’t.
On that note, the categories are interesting and creative. It is just the clues that are hard.
The winning team for each episode will be back to compete in the semi-finals early next year.
New episodes of Pop Culture Jeopardy stream on Wednesdays.
