Back when I was a kid, my dad showed me History of the World Part I. I was glued to the screen for every second of it. So when they showed the preview for History of the World Part II, I believed it was real. I spent most of my life believing it was real.
Then one day, the lightbulb went off. And I realized it was a joke. My heart was broken. I felt dumb and naive.
It turns out I wasn’t so dumb and naive. That is because Hulu teamed up with Mel Brooks to give us an 8-episode sequel to the 1981 movie.
Brooks, 95, is going to write and produce the follow-up. “I can’t wait to once more tell the real truth about all the phony baloney stories the world has been conned into believing are History!” Brooks said.
He will not be doing it alone. He will be joined in the writers’ room with Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, David Stassen, and Kevin Salter.
According to Variety, production is slated to begin in the Springtime, as in for Hitler. Wrong Brooks film.
Seriously, this is the best television news I have heard in a really long time. I just hope they don’t fuck it up. Or I will go all Spanish Inquisition on them.
