[ # ] Want to own a piece of Star Trek?
October 14th, 2024 under Auctions, Star Trek

Star Trek is one of the most beloved shows in television history. So much so that the OG series has spun off eleven series and four movies.

Therefore, if given a chance, a Trekkie would love to own a piece from the franchise. And guess what? Now, they have an opportunity to do just that.

Julien’s is auctioning off 239 props, costumes, and production materials from the first series all the way to Picard and everything in between on November 9th at 10a PST.

You can own things like Captain Kirk’s costume, a USS Enterprise Bridge Chair, Spock’s robe, and so much more!

As a new Trekkie, I want to bid on something. I just don’t know what. What do you want to add to your collection?

You sound so young and… young.

I am a Trekie. Been that way ever since watching the original series running in real time on my sisters black & white RCA TV in her bedroom back in the 1960’s. Always thought I would love a piece of Trek memorabilia. I’ve accumulated a few things over the years; mainly autographs of James Doohan and William Shatner. Got photos of both. Models, a couple trinkets, etc.

Then I grew old. Retired. Looking around at my home. It consists of the very finest of comfortable furniture from Big Lots. Kitchen well adorned with the top of the line Christmas Tree Shoppe, Ollie’s and Ikea plates and utensils. Persian rugs and a 6-piece dining room set from from Building 19. I realized it would be pointless to add specific memorabilia; curated objects that would need dedicated space. Not just randomly resting next to various other dust-covered artifacts of dubious distinction.

To that end, rather than acquire more… stuff… if a Star Trek exhibition comes through the region, I will go and see it. See the costumes and artifacts from the original series. Take some photos. Satiate that 8-year-old’s urge to turn into a fanboy and call it a day.

My advice: Bank your money.
